I like Foegele - but Bear was expected to be a cheap top-4 D for them, so that coming off the table either suggests that Bouchard is further along than he's shown or that the Oil just felt that need more toughness and were willing to pay for it.

The term on Hyman, the acquisition of Keith, and apparently signing Ceci and Barrie. I don't know. Why would Edmonton triple down on ex-Leafs? I get Hyman. He's a gamer as we all know all too well. But when you lose Larsson and figure you can replace his loss with Barrie? Trading reliable D for unreliable D didn't work out well for us.

And my point is that we have locked ourselves into Holl because we have 40M locked up with 4 forwards.

I'm not pleased with Justin Holl as a Top 4 option. I'm not going to pretend he's great because we're priced in.

That's a separate question than the simple - can you easily replace Justin Holl @ $2m in the top-4 role?

If you change that question to: Could I get a better top-4 D-man than Justin Holl if price were no object?

The answer is fairly obvious.

Because my assertion was that you take every move the maple leafs make ever and spin it as a positive. It's not that there's a problem, it's that you just cornholed yourself into proving my point had validity.

Yeah thats still more than Holl and again, I'd hope Dubas would have signed Savard for that much if he wanted to be a leaf. Trade Holl after.

Yeah, border frustrations and being an American probably made this a real easy decision for Bogo.

On the forward front, hoping we sign Ritchie. He's from Orangeville and I'm sure grew up wearing Leafs undies and jammies.

Yeah he's pretty much #1 on my wish list (the realistic one) at this point.

We can all agree Ceci for 3.25 million for 4 years is one of the worst deals today.

I have a high opinion of Raanta when he's on and not injured. He's frequently injured. He's also underperformed of late. Raanta in 2017 was vezina worthy. In 2018 and 2020 he was a net negative. In 2019 he posted moderately positive numbers, but again, didn't play as much as he could have due to injury.
