Full disclosure, I don't really care. There's a lot of factors that go into deciding to signing a contract id say. I'm sure taxes matter... For some probably more than others.

I wish Marner signed that contract in Tampa. 🤷🏻‍♂️

My guess is that Point would have signed for 11ish pre Covid.

#Leafs also have signed D-men Alex Biega and Carl Dahlstrom.

- Leafs43

Could be a little potential with Dahlstrom as a late bloomer. Biega smells like a marlie.

dont wanna be that guy, but kinda hard to be excited for this team this next season.

That being said, happy about Jack getting full netminder duty. That guy deserves it.

I dont dislike Anderson, but I think it was time to move on.

Nick Foligno (who is Boston-bound) told TSN that "at one point" he was close to coming back to #Leafs:

"There's no hard feelings. I'm competitive and I would have liked to finish what I started there, but it didn't work out that way."

Why'd he take a bridge deal then?

We can spin marner's contract a lot of ways, Rantanen signed a few weeks later at same term for 1.5 cheaper. That should have been the first sign marner's contract was not good.

More then anything I wish Marner signed it elsewhere so we didn't have to go through a debate about his contract every single time a contract was signed for the rest of eternity.

Ducks and Getzlaf still have to finalize the paperwork but this is where it's headed, the Ducks captain back for one year and $4.5M. Told that Dallas and Montreal showed strong interest.

Jesus Christ I thought he would get 2 million absolute max.

This Kampf guy isn’t that bad. 67% Dzone starts at 5v5. 52.8% on faceoffs. 31 takeaways to just 8 giveaways. Played 14:40 which is 3rd line minutes. Kills penalties.

Just don’t expect any offence. Pair him with Mikheyev.

In my opinion, I doubt it. They’re paying all of their top players the same amount and teams usually operate within a team salary structure. There’s a reason some teams continuously sign players to decent deals and it’s because people prior to them have bought in.

He would have been given a raise based on the QO.

He went to the market and this was his market.

based off what I have read from him it is not an overpay. He offers things beyond HDB and CHI fans seem upset to see him go.

That would be a pipe dream. You seriously think a guy who fetched a first round pick at the prior trade deadline would sign for 2 years and 4 million on the open market?

I was seething after the playoffs, losing to what I felt was a sh!tty team and the unacceptabale performance by Marner especially. That said, I expect him to be much better moving forward, would I trade him if the return made sense - YES. It's an unlikely event IMO. Part of the salary issue for the Leafs is timing. The biggest miscalculation was locking up four players at the same time to big deals. One or two bridge deals would have solved that problem and that is on Shanny and Dubas.

What a random grab bag of players we nabbed today.

Ho-Sang the best of the bunch, IMO. I think that kid has a chance to produce in a top 9 role for us.

agreed, but its hard to move past. Marner's biggest problem is in between his ears after signing that big a deal here of all places that soon after an ELC. Yes his is talented. And probably yes, he could have gotten that elsewhere but depedning on where, is he the piece to push a team over the edge? I think I would have called the bluff on offersheet and let him sit like Nylander.

What made it worse and you cant pin this on Dubas is Covid has screwed the cap for a while. Im sure it would have looked different if Lou was still here, but from what I understand, this was Daddy Marners doing. Take this for what its worth, my Chiropractor knows the the Marner family and said his dad is nuts filling his head with "you deserve AS much as Mathews"
