That would be a pipe dream. You seriously think a guy who fetched a first round pick at the prior trade deadline would sign for 2 years and 4 million on the open market? - RickJames77
That’s all I would offer him. |

What a random grab bag of players we nabbed today.
Ho-Sang the best of the bunch, IMO. I think that kid has a chance to produce in a top 9 role for us. - gravyface
Did we actually sign him? Didn't here anything official today.

Fair enough. I’m fine with it. We needed to change the bottom 6 and I think Sweeney did a good job doing that. |

Not getting more then Kucherov, who’s probably the 2nd best player in the league. |

Every gm that has ever worked in media says the tax system that some teams operate under plays a part in where players sign and for how much.
And they also say every player has all the Canadian teams on their no trade lists.
But some HB tax experts say none of that is true. Who should we believe? |

On a high note Button says we don’t make the playoffs this year. Sounds like a first place finish coming up. |

Don’t Americans pay a lot less tax on Canada on the bonus part of their income. I read Kessel only paid 15% which would mean Matthews - Tavares ( I think he’s dual citizen ) would pay less tax then TB as most of their salary is in bonus??
I’m not 100% on the whole rule/tax thingy. |

In summary
An updated list of players #Leafs acquired today:
- G Petr Mrazek (3yr, $11.4M) - Yeesh thought it would come cheaper.
- F Michael Bunting (2yr, $1.9M) - Good deal all day. Bury him if he sucks
- F Kurtis Gabriel (1yr, $750K) - No idea who this is.
- F David Kampf (2yr, $3M) - I like it if he is a good defensive centre.
- F Michael Amadio (1yr, $750K) No idea again.
- D Alex Biega - No idea really.
- D Carl Dahlstrom - I should watch more of other teams.
- F Josh Ho-Sang (PTO) - Probably doesn't go anywhere.
I still wouldn't mind Ritchie if we can get him.

I don't like Foligno that much, but i actually think he'll do well.
Bruins have a strong culture, a good system and team first approach -- always have.
Leafs under Dubas are trying to be 'more clever' than rest of NHL, while getting rid of team first players and giving free reign to the spoiled self centred egomaniacs.
If it was written as a script for a movie, feedback would be it is a bit over the top and unrealistic..
rielly is gone next, and then muzzin will leave as well.
left with a bunch of friggin bumholes on the team and tavares. |

I think he knows he's screwed, especially this year and probably next. Kessels wart will finally be burned off after this season, so theres at least 1.2 mill back from that.
I dunno, I think the window of the Shanny plan is on the way closed. I liked our chances this past season, ((frank)ing MTL and their BS) but even as I say that and after seeing yet another epic failure to a cinderella team, how would they truly faired against Vegas or Tampa?

Wings had Biega. Works hard. Not good enough to replace Dermott or even Liljegren though. Went to Harvard. Must be smart. |
