If you thought we were adding a top lw then I don't know what to tell you. I guess you're not paying attention? Not aware of the cap situation?

The crippled/castrated/unworkable/idiotic cap situation?

Fully aware.

Lmao really?? The same Danault who scores like 3 points in over 20 playoff games this year? Yeah what a beast lmao.
- Leichs

The same Danault who completely shut down the top lines of teams in three straight series, including our very own 34? That guy?? Yeah, he was a beast, actually.

Still available:

Krejci
Perry
Zajac
Cizikas

Marcus Johansson
Derek Stepan
Sami Vatanen

- twiztedmike

Krejci is likely done or probably back to Boston
Perry would be a decent grab if he wants to come
I'll pass on Zajac
Cizikas also another good grab for depth

Johansson is a pass
Stepan is a pass for what we need
Vatanen is depending on his cost

I think they mean with a trade or something....
- Aaron_85

It's possible, but I don't think there is a lot of impact forwards for 3.5M. They've already mentioned using Kerfoot on the wing so they aren't planning on trading him to get more space it appears.

I guess we'll.see what happens in the next few days

Why? We are fleshing out the roster, not buying a new one. Today is about adding depth not adding elite talent.

You are way more concise with your words than me lol.

Said the same thing as I wanted to but a lot more clear and simple. Haha.

They should've implemented it. I think it's a very good rule.

Which makes Carolina's decision not to pay Nedeljkovic even more confusing.

They also traded Jake Bean while letting Hamilton walk.

Great value for their star D-man. Only toronto let's guys walk to UFA while being a playoff team.

I feel they have done a good job this off season in trying to rebuild once again as a poor team.

If they are going to keep Matthews and marner together then they can have bunting on the wing. Marner and Matthews drive the line so they shouldn’t need a high priced winger.

If the plan is to play kerfoot on the 2nd line wing then I rather trade him and use his money plus the other 3.5 million in cap space and grab another 2nd line left winger.

Dadanov for 5 million would be decent if he plays LW. He would have the talent that he had in Florida to make him go.

All they have to do is tank this season, get Shane Wright and they will be set. Too bad such a good player could end up in such a wasteland of a franchise.

Cizikas would be a nice add but it looks like Dubas wants to roll with Kämpf as our 3C. He'd probably cost 4M too.

Still think Nick Ritchie would be a good fit.

Man, this is going to be a rough year. This is where we really start feeling the pain of 4 players locking up half of the monies.

People are angry over the teams performance. They want sweeping change. So minor depth signings anger a lot of people.

1.5 million is the going rate for a defensive centre who kills penalties. If that's what this guy is, there really isn't much to be overly angry about.

- Leafs43

@Leafs43 yesterday was fine. The problem is that Dubas messed up the team over the past couple years. @AtomicWedgie I am also less optimistic about this team's future than ever. @Shack67 taxes are absolutely a consideration, too much evidence now to say otherwise. Also, who wants to play under a Canadian city microscope. Does anyone see the Stanley Cup coming to Canada in the near future?

Why didn't they try to spread those picks out across 22, 23, 24 I'll never know.

3rd line is ugly AF.

Basically three guys who should be the worst player on a third line playing together.

I'd rather see some sort of upgrade there. Agree on Marner/Matthews making due with what they get.

Well we may not feel it in a negative manner if they show up.

Let's not forget our D core is Rielly, brodie and muzzin and thats a solid 3.

The solution is another contest Aeth. Best babes from 60's vs 70's vs 80's etc. You can do it. It will be a nice distraction.

Leafs will be ok. Doubt very much that the current management team survives if there are no strides this year. I am remain optimistic about the future. Leafs have young talent that has to live up to expectations, need a plan and a coach that can help deliver.
