The solution is another contest Aeth. Best babes from 60's vs 70's vs 80's etc. You can do it. It will be a nice distraction.
Leafs will be ok. Doubt very much that the current management team survives if there are no strides this year. I am remain optimistic about the future. Leafs have young talent that has to live up to expectations, need a plan and a coach that can help deliver. - winsix
The flat cap really screwed the Leafs. Hopefully the cap goes up next year and allows for some improvements. It's going to be pretty tough to improve this year when they are losing players like Hyman.
They'll need Sandin, Bunting, and Robertson to have a big impacts this year to improve.

Exactly what we need 👍 - mr.sir
Would be ok, doesn't score nearly as much as Hyman did and will likely be a $4 M AAV so I wouldn't count on it.

32 teams all want the same thing. Some have distinct advantages over others. Building a team that matches the changing way games are called, Puck Luck, injury luck all play a role. Leafs have second most cups, drought shmought

Well we may not feel it in a negative manner if they show up.
Let's not forget our D core is Rielly, brodie and muzzin and thats a solid 3. - Aaron_85
I know it's premature (but is it really?) to worry about next season, but a couple of points to consider:
- Rielly is UFA and there is no reason to believe he signs a "hometown" discount with this club
- Muzzin has been injury prone two years a row now when we most needed him. He's got a lot of mileage and will be 33 next season
- If Jack Campbell has a good season this year he's going to see his salary triple
The one beautiful positive is that Kessel will finally be off the books - 1.2M back in our wallet.
Anyway, I'm not feeling too comfortable that this team is in a better position today (or next season) to make a deep run.
But what do I know? 🤷 |

Hyman benefited a great deal playing on the Leafs top lines. He's tenacious, a good player, but not in the same league as his linemates when it comes to talent. Hard work is great, hard work plus talent is better. The flat cap did screw the Leafs. They did have a Cap Manager that didn't do a good job IMO. Had the Leafs dug in and forced bridge deals with Nylander and Marner, it is quite possible, the offsetting of the contracts would have allowed the Leafs to better manage their salary limitations.

Off season isn't over yet and we have to get to the playoffs and see how they perform first.
To your points though:
1. With the price of Dmen I think Rielly aims at 8+ and indeed id consider the bold move of trading him and letting Sandin slide in.
2. We can hope Muzzin is healthy during the playoffs.
3. Sign him then. Trade Mzarek. |

Dubas is a player's GM so he'll always be vulnerable to that. He didn't want to repeat the mistakes with Nylander because they were in a window to win, and didn't want Mitch sitting around for months getting fat on ice cream sandwiches playing XBox with his mom. |

they signed a lot of depth players, but they still need to get someone to play 1st line LW.
I don't think it is Bunting, maybe he'll be the 2LW with Tavares and Nylander
Not gonna lie, LW looks weak with Bunting, Robertson, Mikheyev and ? |

Mrazek and Bunting will make the team, but I don't know if Ho-Sang, Gabriel, Biega, Dahlstrom will make the NHL roster, a lot of fringe/depth pieces

I agree with everything minus the comment on Human. He was able to drive a 3rd line fairly well with the HEM line, I do agree he did benefit from playing with good obviously players , but he does have finishing ability |

This is exactly why Reilly needs to be resigned this year or traded just like Columbus did with Jones. It would be immensely stupid to go into the year with him unsigned. |
