This is exactly why Reilly needs to be resigned this year or traded just like Columbus did with Jones. It would be immensely stupid to go into the year with him unsigned. - Archaic
I concur but the Leafs are ok with using their player as their own rentals

Just give it a try…..
Only one fast enough to keep up with 34 and 16 ( do u recall Thornton 🙄)
Can do all of the defensive responsibilities for that line
Hyman missed numerous opportunities vs the Habs, so please don’t be critical of the guy that just severed his tendons |

3rd line is ugly AF.
Basically three guys who should be the worst player on a third line playing together.
I'd rather see some sort of upgrade there. Agree on Marner/Matthews making due with what they get. - Leafs43
3rd line guys were affordable at the TDL.
Getting a guy who could play in the top 6 proved expensive. |

My gawd, how bad is it that Mickey is on the first line. So bad.
We definitely need Kerfoot now more than ever...well if the leafs make the playoffs.
Mickey should not be playing in the top 6 at all. |

I am keeping my eye on their Beuvillier situation. Gets a Bennet deal.
17M in cap space but will disappear pretty quickly after Pelech and Sorokin.
Then they have decisions to make on cicikas and Palmeri. They also have some FA options.
Pelech starts with a 4-5, Sorokin a 2.5-3. |

Meh, he blasts down the ice without his wingers anyways...then he stands their looking like a deer in headlights.
Maybe he’ll have a better year, but I didn’t find him good at all last year...for the most. |

Per @TheFourthPeriod, Parise’s deal believed to be a one-year deal. Palmieri working on a “long term contract,” Cizikas deal being worked in, Pelech deal being worked on as a long term deal north of $6M per, trade talks for Tarasenko still ongoing. #isles
Yup Dubas mentions team looking for "cap space". Seems like Beuvillier could be had here if this is all true.
Pelech-6M
Parise-2M
Palmeri-Close to Schwartz deal...5-5.5M
Cizikas 3-4M
Sorokin as well
Tarasenko? |

My point still stands, even though they signed 2 NHL'ers and maybe 5 AHL players, they still need a LW to play on the top line |

Robertson and Amirov are the top 6 LW of the future. Any deal for a LW should be short term |

32 teams all want the same thing. Some have distinct advantages over others. Building a team that matches the changing way games are called, Puck Luck, injury luck all play a role. Leafs have second most cups, drought shmought - winsix
Longest winless drought of ALL teams in ALL major sports leagues. |

Dubas should let the other 31 teams know in which case, maybe they'll give us a pass this year |

I don't subscribe to the idea that you need a true top 6 winger for Marner/Matthews.
Ritchie would be great to slot in there. Bunting should get a shot too.
The top line LWer needs to be able to retrieve the puck here and there and go to the net with their stick on the ice. That's it, Marner/Matthews can do the rest.

I know it's news to you, but third lines in this league need to contribute offensively. Our third line is a complete wasteland when it comes to offense. We're gonna get NOTHING from it.
So, it's all on the boys with the bg tickets. None of whom go hard to the net. A powerplay that had better click. |

Yeah I agree with this, I don't think they plan on putting a top 6 winger with those two. Keefe likes to throw JT up with them in key moments...other than that they should be able to handle it with anyone. |

I agree with this. Crosby and even Tavares on the island have given careers for "lesser" talents riding shotgun with them.
Mattews/Marner need a guy who can keep up speed wise and smart enough to not (frank) up the play.
