You make a ton of assumptions here.
1) You dont know who Fletcher reached out too
2) You dont know if any other goalies were open to signing here
3) You dont know if Fletcher had any other choices
Im not happy with Jones either but we dont know the situation. - xShoot4WarAmpsx

Who are the Flyers hoping for to help carry this team offensively, more so scoring goals? If your gauging over past two seasons, we’re still not strong with forwards being able to put puck in the net. - Buzzo
Great point. No room to add a scoring forward unless it's a trade. Not sure what Chuck has in mind.
Just spitballing and trying to be conservative. And all depends on how we use the forward. PP time? Thoughts?

Who did you expect considering the cap space we had? - dramado
Thompson is a bum. He sucked his first go around bringing him back is asinine.
The Yes Men are defending it. |

Then you do nothing. No need to sign him. See what you gave in house during camp. He is beyond a dime dozen player who you can find anytime. |

Love the old “we signed this guy when we could have had that guy for $x!?”
As if anyone knows where “that guy” wanted to go. Good times. |

Maybe don't sign Thompson and spend more on a better goalie?
Is this team really lacking for 4th-line options? |

How bout maybe keep the first round pick, instead of trading it for an overpriced pending UFA, clear some cap space and make a run at Dougie Hamilton? Think that notion ever dawned on Fletcher or nah? |

No. Flyers could of had Brodeur in his prime last year and they might of won 2 more games. - Glak18

He plays great for a fourth liner. Some people just like to hate everything. We've had a huge offseason and added a great depth guy. The sky surely is falling... |

he fn stinks.

Goal scoring does worry me a bit but where we were abysmal is in our own end team d. Eventually that spilled over into poor goaltending. Easiest goal to score is the one you don’t give up.

I think it's just whining to complain about the Thompson pickup. He's a great faceoff guy, and adds much needed grit to our team. His 800k isn't going to destroy the team. |

Poor Bill, his summer just keeps getting increasingly difficult by the day. I feel for him. - dubc55
Why? Ellis is a bona fide top pairing defenseman, Ristolainen looks to solidify the second pairing and IMO seems like a prime candidate for a bounce back (contract year, new team), Atkinson swap for Jake seems to be decent with added bonus of a lower cap hit, Yandle and Thompson are one year depth signings. The one you could quibble about is Jones.

He’s a fourth line guy that’s hopefully in and out of the lineup, nothing more nothing less. It was a depth signing that is all |
