Getzlaf signs for 1 year at 4.5, older than G, is his contract any help with G’s next contract - wcorvette
Possibly. G will be one year younger at the time he signs. But so far more productive.
Ive always imagined G would sign something like 3 years at 5aav.

We have signed Ryan Fitzgerald, Adam Clendening and Nick Seeler to two-way contracts with a $750k AAV.

In addition, we have also signed Gerry Mayhew ($800k AAV) and Cooper Zech ($875k AAV) to two-way deals.
They don't have a 3c and he's wasting time signing Uber Eats drivers to play for the Phantoms. What a slug. |

Yes it is if you look at what they’re going to be moving forward. They might be a lottery team for 5 years. - Hextall271
Well, I thought the picture would say a thousand words but perhaps you did not read those words again. So I will try more explicitly omitting them so you can "read between the lines", as you claim to be able to do with Bill's blog.
To me, the things other than winning a cup (that are relevant for judging a sports franchise) are listed below this sentence. |

Clendening, Mayhew and Fitzgerald (a re-signing) are all AHL impact players. NHL depth, as well. |

Guessing locking Laine into a multi-year deal must seem kinda iffy to them after the season he just turned in.

Interesting. I was looking at salaries. Bernier got over 4 mil. Mrazek 3.8. Grubaier close to six. Holy crap. The only two options at our price range were Jones and holtby. Suter got over 4. Wtf guys. Throwing money like crazy. - Hextall271
They should have signed their first back up and also kept Elliot. 2A and 2B.
Elliott wen to TB where Vasi plays like 75% of games and leaves the rest to be divided among much lesser mortals. He went for close to min. Give him 1.2-1.5 and there is no reason he wouldn't take it. Aim to give Hart 40-45 say, your back up (Jones/Holtby whoever) most of the rest and Elliott is your vet insurance policy.
CF goes all in to win and signs two goalies whose last season sv% was 0.87 or something. Unfathomable. |

Do you somehow think that signing these guys got in the way of Fletch doing anything else?
Like, he was on the phone working out these deals and missed a call from Columbus offering us Laine for NAK?

If you (or anyone else) ever get a chance, see the TV series Chernobyl. Its probably the best tv drama I have ever watched, or close. Just 5 episodes, reality based fictional characters set in that occurrence. |

My plan is to acquire players who can play. Martin Jones has been awful 3 years in a row. So now if Hart struggles again you are essentially punting the season. - PLindbergh31
I have some skepticism as well. But:
1) EVERY Sharks goalie has similarly struggled in recent years, including Dubnyk and Dell. It hasn't just been Jones.
2) Sometimes a fresh start works well, other times not. I confess that I thought Cam Talbot was toast, and then he bounced back in Calgary. Goalies are tough to figure.
3) Jones, in the past, backstopped the Sharks to a Cup Final and a Western Conference Final. He finished as high as 6th in the Vezina race, and was a real workhorse starter for several years. As a one-year backup option, it could work. No denying there's risk, though.

Welp, so much for praising Chucky!! WTF at signing this guy as a backup. Does he know that a backup goalie is going to be VERY IMPORTANT this year with the compressed Olympic schedule. You need two legit goalies to get through that. Oh well. |
