I think the danger in that is that this team might be on the edge of a cliff like it was last year. A decent goalie will get them some games. I fear that at least one of those goalies won't be serviceable. - Slump Buster
Both are not serviceable.
It’s worse than Hutton. |

That's a fair point, as Boston probably could've offered the exact same deal and Linus may have taken it, but Linus was the only one who actually really liked Buffalo and did want to stay. - kingcong39
that might be true...but one can only take so much losing and there is much more on the horizon |

It absolutely would, and I think they will get a decent one. I really don't think they are going to sabotage the roster like Murray did. That's what I don't get about all of the panic yesterday - how many decent goalies moved yesterday? Or decent players, for that matter. - Slump Buster
Do you believe they really want a decent goaltender for next season and are willing to spend the asset(s) required to get said decent goaltender?
Not sure I believe they want to do that. |
|
|
|
Yeah but last year they had Johansson Tokarski Houser etc that had to play when Dell was waived. - Stripes77
now that's a trio

While I think the Eichel trade will bring back a goaltender, wouldn't a decent goaltender getting them some games be counterintuitive to their goal for next season? - kingcong39
So sick of this losing on purpose. Losing for McDavid got us what, exactly? A m@sshole who's never been told "no" ever in his life. |

This is where I’m at. When Ullmark got hurt you could see it in the Sabres eyes. They were already defeated. I know they’re going to be bad, but give the team a shot at winning with at least some average goaltending.
It’s the most important position to have at least average play in. - Stripes77
Anderson played all of 4 games last year. He’s not someone you should count in playing 30+ games. |

I would think that the best offer MUST include a top center prospect. Isn't that the hangup with all of these teams? - Slump Buster
Do you consider Chytil from the Rangers as a top Center prospect? That may be the best Center they can get. |

People thought he was retired until they saw he signed with the Sabres 😅😅😅 |

He won't be on the team.
Adams is going to take the best offer he can get and trade him. - kingcong39
The worst thing he can do is trade Jack for a ROR return.
He needs to sit down with Jack and his agent and the 3 of them need to figure it out. No more negotiating in the media. Lay it all out. We know Jack doesn’t want to be here, but the Sabres cannot get taken to the cleaners in a trade. That will do way more damage to the franchise than Jack having to play a dozen games or so at the end of the season. |

I think we're over worrying because a goaltender will be part of the return in an Eichel trade, IMO. |

M. Tkachuck
C. Zary
Valimaki

with all the moves the sabres made yesterday, last thing the sabres should do is move assets for a decent goalie
just sign duby on a 1 year deal |

he and his camp need to help facilitate this trade...not sure exactly what can be done, but if they really want a divorce, they need to find a way to reassure trade partners that jack is (will be) fine |

I think they would and I think that the goalie will probably be some kind of cap dump as that really lowers the cost and helps us get to the floor. |

Which would be a colossal mistake.
Your best trade asset can’t be used for a goalie. |

I think it would be a different player then Tkachuk coming back, but this part of the trade I agree with:

Valimaki

Perfect. Overpay him for one year. I don't believe anyone else has a starting job available.

I don't think they're focused on getting a goaltender in an Eichel trade. It'll just be a part of the return from the Rangers. |

I think Adams is a nice guy but there are IMO some mistakes that are adding up. Adding a condition to the Hall trade to re-sign with the Bruins was about the easiest thing you can do as a GM, even if it was for a 5th round. At some point during the season they had to have had the clear indication that Ullmark was going to test free agency, he should have hands down been dealt at the deadline then. If the plan is to tank for Wright they are going to continue to dig an enormous hole with the fans. |

I don’t need necessarily want him back at this point. But let him have the damn surgery right before the season. Keep him away from the team. Get him healthy. After the Olympic break he comes back healthy and plays the last remaining games and shows the league he’s good to go.
It’s not ideal at all. But it is certainly better than trading the him for a crap return. |

Not allowed to add those conditions on trades anymore. Conditions on if a player re-signs are no longer allowed and weren’t allowed for last season.

Dubynk makes a lot of sense, if he's willing to play in Buffalo. |
