The only way I want to trade for a goalie is if he is more of a cap dump (Bishop)

They should not be trading assets for a goalie at this point in time unless they plan on him being the starter for the future

that is exactly why I really don't care if they get a starting goalie or a cardboard cut out of Hasek to throw in net next year. Hell the cut-out might actually be better...

UPL should be in Rochester, you can't have him getting exposed to this team, it will destroy a young goalies confidence

I just don't see why it HAS to be that way.

It's not only, you make the playoffs or it's a race to the bottom.

You can do all of the following:

1) Not bring in vets that will take roles away from young guys that need to develop into top talent.
2) Fill out the vets around inexperienced young guys to make a roster.
3) Attempt to win as many games as you can without the sole purpose of tanking for a lottery pick.

I'm not interested in purposely losing. That's my concern.

We just watched a team be right up against the cap, or spend like crazy on the wrong guys to win now.

I totally understand you're not going to be ready to compete until KO's contract is off the books and you're hoping Skinner can produce some goals or a team wants that contract (hell can freeze over I suppose). The Sabres have to undo some horrid FA decisions and build through the draft.

But it's not zero sum. You CAN try to be competitive with the above criteria and still build. A playoff push is unlikely to damn near impossible, but I don't want to see a team constructed whose sole purpose is to lose. That's not a good look for an organization and builds a terrible culture. That culture is what Adams is trying to undo right now.

That's why I like the Samson trade. The Goalie should be ready when the Sabres are relevant.

Admittedly there are a few other reasons I like the trade ☝️

I really like your goalie for a 2nd post.

It's so very Sabres.


Its really a tough balance between grooming the kids and losing intentionally.

I can see them trading for someone with a "name"

Bishop type guy that is costly to hit the floor , but terrible and injury prone.

Donnie likes using his 5th or 6th goalie in the organization from what I've seen so far

Goalies are so unpredictable is my issue.

Carter Hart is a prime example.

Dude may be ready in 3 years or 8 years.
