Major props to Dorion for being able to move that Dadonov contract!!!
Are they going to use that money on Brady or go after Monahan? |

Okay. Sure. I can see this. Dadanov wasn't comfortable here and Sens get out from $5 mill.
But Holden shoots left? Does this mean they aren't signing Mete? |

I feel the Sens are going to be 2nd day bargain shoppers. |

I felt that all along, Ottawa will wait to see how things shake out today, unless something comes along that they love
|

I think you both may be right in that thinking! Ottawa wont overpay for a free agent

Granpa is going to blow a gasket in 3...2...1.... |

1.7 million cap hit, 1.4 in real cash.....Ottawa loves those contracts! Plus only 1 year left on Holden's deal....great job by Dorion! |

They signed him as a UFA, so they got a draft pick and a player for a guy they messed up on.....while clearing away the 5 mil for 2 more years.... |

Super happy. I like DJ I would like more term but better than nothing
Good job both Pierre for the trade |

I could absolutely see Ottawa moving Brannstrom......its obvious DJ Smith doesnt like him, he gave Mette more icetime in the last 10 games......

given the insane deals being handed out today, to pretty mediocre players.....that's a good thing |

DJ has stated that he has no aversion to playing LHD on the right side, just doesn't like putting the young D on their off-side |

I seriously don't get why he is so strict with the left shot left side, right shot right side doctrine. Why not let Brannstrom do what he does best on his preferred side? It is better for setting up one timers anyways. Am I missing something. Isn't it also easier to intercept cross ice passes from a defense setup like how DJ wants it? |

Is this to make room for one of Henrique or Strome? Or will White shift over to the wing.

Oilers sign Ceci 4 x $3.25 per year.
Ouch.
That will be a regret. |

Hard to find any fault with this trade. The play of C. Brown and the emergence of Batherson and Stutzle pretty much locked Dadonov out of a top-6 job. You could see glimpses of his skill and he was still on pace for ~20G, but it never felt like he was a good fit, even on the PP. Holden gives them a 6/7 type LHD at $1.7MAAV who can split time with Mete on the 3rd pairing, plus it's just $1.4M of actual salary, and only a 1-yr deal so he could maybe even be flipped at the deadline. They also get $3.3M/$5.0M back against the cap for the next 2 years, and another 3rd round pick for next year.
TBH, it was starting to feel like Dadonov might be slipping into the 'pay to get rid of' category, especially with no real change to his roster prospects in Ottawa. Maybe he bounces back with Vegas, but I give Dorion credit for not letting things fester to the point where it becomes a negative asset for the team.

How about 3 years too long, they will realize that after the first year! |

4th line minutes the last few games of the season, DJ wanted no part of Dadonov

Certainly makes you wonder. Most GM's are thinking 2 steps ahead of their next move....gotta think something is on the brink

If Dorion gives DJ multiple options with some additions, hopefully he isn't married to the fact of not moving guys to their offside.
