I’m not happy giving up on Dadonov and essentially getting nothing back in return.
Shortened season, new team. Not everyone immediately clicks or produces right off the bat.
It’s not like this team is making the playoffs…so why deal a guy after 1 season? Just wait it out for yr2.

I think Dorion went as far to say that was his proudest day as a ottawa senator...... - spazzbot
It was a dumb thing for Dorion to say and he did walk it back afterwards. I think it was made after a stressful day of trying to get a solid return for Stone.

Eichel and Skinner for a 1st, White, Branny and one other piece (conditional pick, Abramov, Logan Brown, Greg, etc,)?
Taking on Skinners contract would be worth 3 firsts alone.... - GrimmdaGoalie
there is literally NOTHING buff could include in a deal to make me take on that skinner contract. if the deal was eichel and skinner for a 7th rd pick alone, i still wouldn't do it.
skinner might literally go down as the worst contract in NHL history |

dude, philly had to include two draft picks with Ghost and got literally nothing back. the Vezina winning goalie just got traded for a guy who's probably not even good enough to make an AHL roster. neither of those deals were any worse than Daddy's, and both were better players........the fact that ottawa didn't have to eat any salary, and they got a serviceable dman AND a draft pick, is a F-ING miracle. |

Ottawa looking hard at David Krejci, dont forget he played his junior across the river in Gatineau too...... |

I should’ve probably specified I don’t care about the return.
I’m more upset we dealt someone, on a good, short term contract, that had potential to click with this team in the top 6. There was no need to rush and deal him.
Why not give him another shot? Where he’s actually familiar with the players now and see what he could do? He has/had the most bounce back potential.
It’s not like his cap was restricting us from making moves.
Anyways, we’ll see if there are more moves coming..maybe it’ll all make sense.

i wish he would have worked out....but i think it's pretty clear that his production was largely due to being on a line with Barkov and Huberdeau. he wasn't going to play with those kind of players here, and he won't in Vegas either. he doesn't drive play by himself AT ALL.
it was good of ottawa to move on, use that money on someone who will be able to contribute more. |

Ottawa looking hard at David Krejci, dont forget he played his junior across the river in Gatineau too...... - Kevin Francis
Krejci would be an interesting addition - he's 35, but still a legitimate 50-60pts scorer, with good PP upside. That said, if they expect a strong 2-way game to insulate someone like Stutzle it might not be as good a fit as someone like Henrique, though Krejci is a pretty strong FO guy (54% last year, >900 faceoffs/yr in each of the past 3 years). |

i would take Krecji ALL DAY over Henrique.......better player, and probably get him for less $ and term |

It would definitely be for less term and dollars.....2 years would be so ideal! |

My favourite memory of Dandanov. Game 1, missing wide open net on powerplay. - spazzbot

Brannstrom never a DJ guy. I mean the Sens can roll with 8 D to start.
Maybe one of Mete or Branny in a deal for Strome. Dare I say Eichel?
I am STUNNED both Jones and Reimer got what they did.
And who plays net for the Avs?
And Dallas now has 4 goalies on the roster? - GrimmdaGoalie
I really think Brannstrom's days are numbered, maybe not this summer, but as the season rolls along.....he just doesnt fit in here with DJ. If you can move him now.....do it while he has a little stock among GM's

Krecji at 2 year 5m per would be fine, not like they cap strapped and his vet exp with a very successful winning team would be a good help for norris and pinto |

I am told Ottawa has offered Krejci a 2 year deal, Boston offered him a one year deal at a huge paycut.....lets see if his agent now shops it around the league to see if Ottawa is the only team willing to go 2 years.....but it won't be at 5 mil per I am told....unless they play hardball last second....I truly think this could get done tonight....interesting times! |

well OTT could always trade or burry holden in the minors and could move branny or mete to the RD as both can play that side it seems OTT may not have a vet RD but with del zotto they have a vet there
Chabot/Zeitsev
Del zotto/Branny or mete
Mete or branny/Zub
holden/brown as 7th dman
to move branny before he could show what he can be would be realy stupid, but its dorion so that would not be a surprise, would also mean they traded a top 5 RW in the league for nothing.....depending on what branny would be traded for |

depends on what krejci wants, money or a shot at a second cup |

Brannstrom is an interesting topic as teams will trade for a guy like him that has upside....but if he was to have a poor start, then Ottawa is selling low as they say....at least right now they would be selling higher than low lol.....they would be trading him based on how many still look at him.....young player that needs to develop and can he attain what many scouts said about him a few years ago. |

Very true, but many teams that will contend for the cup are either over the cap right now or right up against the wall with the cap. 4 teams are over the cap right now, Vegas, Tampa, Chicago and Dallas |

Toronto, Montreal and Edmonton with little cap space too. |

Ottawa has been kicking tires on Monahan for awhile now I am told, going back to the trade deadline......Dorion isn't afraid to do game changing roster moves.....look no further than the Duchene trade. Dorion had been wanting Duchene for almost 2 years when he pulled the trigger. |

I wonder if the way the Duchene trade blew up on Dorion would make him a little more wary this time around.
I do not think this team is at a place where anyone would be convinced a Monohan would put them over the edge. He might be the piece they need down the line, but he'd need to want to stay for that to happen. |

They definitely gave up alot for Duchene.....Monahan has 2 years left at 6.375 per season. It all depends on the asking price too for Monahan.

Surprisingly decent moves today. Not enough notice was given to Daddy and his production with Huberdeau and Barkov in Florida when he signed here. I think we all got caught up in the excitement of a decent name wanting to sign in Ottawa. Always be weary of player producing points with stars.
Not sure the Del Zatto move was necessary, but gives some insurance. You have to wonder if there is another move on the horizon with the crowded blue line.
Hopefully some RFA's get locked up soon. I'd avoid signing/trading for any veteran centres. Just roll with the young guys unless you are making a significant add. |

Dadonov definitely needs linemates that can make the line go.....he isnt the one making the line go as they say.....Ottawa whiffed on that for sure!
You gotta think Dorion is thinking 2 moves ahead.....wouldnt surprise me if something shakes out on defense in the coming days. |
