why would you care about getting anything back. It's Will Butcher. |

I liked Butcher. And always remember he picked us with a ton of offers from others. Damn, having to give him and a pick for nothing, just seems wrong. |

It’s a good day to be a devils fan, and things trickle down from here. Always been high on severson, no longer will he face the other teams best players night in night out... this addition does a lot of good things for this roster. |

Should be more moves coming. Obviously Kuok/Sharangovich need contracts but we're still under the cap floor with Butcher moving out lol. I still expect Fitzy to try to add a top 6 winger but i wonder what else he has planned, if anything.
Still a fantastic offseason so far though, adding two top 4 D(including one being a top 5 or 10 overall D in the league) and a dependable backup/1B for Mack which we desperately needed to fill. Now lets try to add some offense! |

Agreed. But.... not at a stage to give up much in the farm yet. A Boqvist or Zacha, yea... |

Please bernier, don’t retire. |

They arent going to give up the farm. That is exactly what Fitz said at the beginning of the offseason. |

I totally agree, loved that he picked the devils. |

At this point he was being paid north of 3 mil to be the Devils 7th:8th defenseman, unloading the contract without eating any cash was the consideration. Wish him well, but it was clear last year his days were done here. |

If possible I would have kept him as I think he is a UFA at the end of the season rather than giving up a 5th while retaining salary (why when buffalo is so far below the cap baffles me)
Who would be our 7th D? Assuming bahl plays in utica |

Still can’t believe we got Dougie Hamilton lol. We legit added a top pair in the off-season. Piece of cake. And nothing of value was lost. I already forgot what we gave up for Graves. I know he’s not a proven #2 dman, but he’s better defensively than what we had, and should be fine next to Dougie. |

I’d imagine the d man they grabbed from San Jose will get a chance. |

Basically every good player we've had on this team in our history was drafted or traded for. Feels weird to get the big name free agent. |

Awesome job shoring up the back end. Just having Graves and Hamilton will push the other players into positions better suited to their skill. Get some more favorable matchups for sure. Plus Bernier gives us protection if B-Wood craps the bed.
Now we need a pair of veteran 20+ goal scoring wingers. If we don't get some legit scorers to flank 13 and 86 all the defense in the world isn't going to get us to playoff bubble status.
Keep it rolling Fitzy. Still some good gets out there. |

Getting Brian Flynn and chase de Leo was the victory today though. |

Great signing but devils need a legit tough guy. This team, as built, will be pushed around |

Sorry, I disagree. Between McLeod, Wood and Graves we are fine. Could they get tougher, sure, any team could. but this is not a mickey mouse team. |

I agree, however, I think today's tough guy (especially in the future) will look different.
Not the glove throwing fighter but a guy that could bang his body with the occasional backing up a teammate who can also skate and play.
I see Bastian as a "tough guy". |

I just want everybody to go check Arizona's roster for next season. It's a true tank masterpiece. |

Per Pierre LeBrun, the Devils made a strong pitch to Brandon Saad today, but he has other offers on the table as well and will take some time to sift through it all |
