Can he play goalie?

And please sign Jankowski back.

- VeryModernMan

Jaja! He would be on par with the skills of the Zamboni driver.

How goes in Pitts! Not many happy campers in your thread today.

Hard pass on Jankowski. Any chance you get Fleury back so he can retire a Penguin?

Edit: I want Kapanen

Actually John, Zadorov being compared to Gio isnt a very good comparison as they are different players. The biggest difference is Gio is 6'1" 201 lbs & 37 years old. Zadorov is 6'6" & 235lbs & 26 years old. Zadorov is what we have been lacking on our back end & badly needed for this team whether we had Gio or not. Andersen will need to step up & bring things that Gio did for us & Im confident in this young player to doing that.

I too really like the Coleman acquisition. Was hoping to hear Gaudreau extended today. I also think once the frenzy is over, teams that miss out on a top 6 centre will be circling back on Monahan.

Someone want to tell me what the fck Francis is doing???? Grubauer? Maybe dress 3 goalies & lie them out in front of the net so they can keep the scoring down.

Our run is over, last GM ruined the roster. No prospects, no ELCs, no goalies, no cap.

Would be a dream, but price for 50% retained will be step. Who will be your backup?

I want Kapanen

Late to camp, but then a real line driver and pleasant surprise. Costs you Mangi or Dube+.

Flames picked up a dude from Boston named Vlader for their backup.....My inner StarWars fanboy is pretty happy. He was the top goalie in the AHL supposedly.

I would do Dube+ for Kap, the plus would not be a lot. Dube is going to develop into a top 6 goal-scoring winger. Flames need a right shot RW and Kap would excel playing under Sutter.

Hopefully Hextall can right the ship soon!

If Buff is accepting JG or Mony as being part of the package for Jack I bet those conversations are ongoing.
- DEDDIE

The only way we get Eichel is by trading Tkachuk. I doubt that Monahan gets it donw, and Johnny is what you need when you have an Eichel. Want to package Johnny and Monahan together? Send us Eichel and Cozens. Heck, we will throw in Zary.

Dube + Kylington.
Not that Kapanen is a gritty guy, but he stands up well to punishment.

Treliving giving away draft picks and monster contracts like candy for players who don't move the needle one bit. He's trying to save his job. He'll only handcuff this team for years to come.
- redseerpf

The odds of a 1st rounder working out are pretty low, much less for 3rd rounders..

The Coleman deal doesn't make any difference if we do rebuild.

This core has 2-3 years left together before becoming UFAs - that's about half of Coleman's deal. Then let's say we tank in year 3,4,5 of Coleman's deal. By that time, Lucic will come off the books, we'll be getting fresh 18-19 year olds drafted high, who will all be on ELCs, meanwhile Pelletier/Zary/Coronato would be coming out of their ELCs.

If we didn't give him term and dollars, he wouldn't have come here. Calgary has tendencies to the types of players it acquires, and the methods used. Basically all of the typical trends were repeated in the draft and free agency (Swedes, USHL, overpaying for UFAs)

I also liked a few questions by TSN's Salim Valji - when he asked how do they sell Calgary to the players, and that happened to touch on some of the conversations on this forum. Maybe it was just a coincidence but interesting non the less.

yep, meh... We have great 3rd/4th lines, now about 1/2.

They're always going to be a team that is aiming for 4 solid lines to win. The two biggest variables that'll make the Flames contenders or lottery hopefuls are Monahan and Markstrom. If Monahan bounces back and can be a solid number 2 centre and Markstrom can bounce back and be a top ten goalie, the Flames will be contenders.

Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk can be an amazing top line that could carry the team if they go that route. Coleman-Monahan-Mangiapane has the potential to be a solid number 2 line.

They need to find one more guy for the bottom six who no one wants who over achieves for the Flames. Treliving has never been able to find that guy.

I wonder if Dube will be that guy this year. Cannot see anyone else breaking out in the bottom 6.

Flames are going to be a tough team to play against this year.

I want to see Anderson start poop and then Zadorov back him up.

Ha, I wanna see the old Chucky starting poop and Zadorov/Ritchie/Looch piling on. This team needs to get that scrappy mentality back in their game for sure!

Also... Saad... $4.5 x 4... kinda wish this was the deal we got on Coleman... or that we just signed Saad instead

Coleman is a grade A penalty killer. With Zadorv we will need that.

I really like Sadd but Coleman is a much more versatile player from what I have read.

Yeah I know, unfortunately our GM is not capable enough to find these guys before their value is inflated. There seem to be about 5 capable GM´s in the league and everyone else is playing catch up. Tre is on the better end of the bad, but that is not saying much.

Currently, my favorites are Holland and Dubas. Benning was top 3, but he started making sensible moves. Hoping he signs Petterson for lots and lots of money and then Petterson pulls a J Hockey and stops progressing.......a guy can hope.

Seems like Yzerman, Sweeney, and Lamoriello are top 3. Sakic was in my top 5 till he forgot to sign a goaltender. Still trying to figure out some of Francis's and Zito's moves. I think Francis is playing the long game and will look pretty good in a couple of years.

For the other GM's it just seems like luck. If you can win the lottery and draft a generational talent you look pretty smart. Unless your Buffalo, then your (frank)ed.

What a good one would look like versus what he probably gets? A good contract will be 5 years at 3.95 mill per. He's probably getting 4 years at 4.75 mill per. Oh well.

Seeing Reaves traded East makes me smile a bit. That guy wasnt much of a player but he was just a beast that added to Vegas mystic of talent & toughness. Thats a loss & Flames are starting to look more & more like the bigger team in our division, just hope they play big. Still would like to get N Ritchie too lol

Always wanted to see Lucic and Reaves go toe to toe.

I wonder if Reaves heading out to NYR will make Pitts want Lucic a little more.

I would be into trading Luc and picking up Ritchie. Then sign Virtanen!

Sutter going full Slapshot! If you can't beat em, BEAT em.

So Treling must be playing chess with somebody. He's been relatively quiet since opening Ufa day. Makes me wonder what he's on to.
As of now our team has improved very little, I like what he's done just not enough to get into the playoffs.

Tkachuk Lindholm, McJohnny
Coleman, Monahan, Mangiapani
Dube, Backlund, Lucic
Ritchie, Ruzicka, Lewis

Hanifin Tanev
Makay Zardarov
Valimaki Anderson
Kylington

Markstrom
V

I hope this isn't the roster he's running with or I feel it may be a long season.

K, I'm getting tired of the facking smoke here in K Town. It's been 4 straight days of smothering air, last night the truck was covered in ash. This morning headed up in the mountains towards Big White to try and get above it. It was marginally better but still smokey, where the hell is that southerly wind that was supposed to clear the skies? Gotta get somewhere for clearer air, heading to Vancouver for a few days. Anybody need anything?

Damn man, not even August yet. Growing up as a young kid I spent every summer in Peachland, Can remember a couple of fires but poor it quality was never a problem.

I have friends in Kamloops considering moving back to AB as they are finding the summers tough to handle.

Stay safe.
