I bet Pettersson is looking for 9 million a year, and Hughes around 7.5. That backs the Canucks organization into a corner. - DraftandDestroy
I think Petey comes in around 7.5 and QH around 6, but those are on bridge deals.
I would go long term on Petey at 9, but it'd be tough to do with the cap this year. Barzal is pretty much the exact comparable to EP, and he's at 7.
CF shows they have 14 mil right now (send a couple guys down to get to 16 or 17)... but they have to sign EP, QH, OJ, and Dickinson under that. Gonna be tight, but doable.
However, they aren't impervious to an offer sheet, especially if someone wants to throw 10-11 mil at Petey, that'd really (frank) things around (though highly improbable).
Someone should offer sheet petey 10 x 4 so he's a fa. It's only a 1st and a 3rd to give up. Canucks would be forced to match cause they can't lose him for such kittle compensation and that 10 mill a year destroys their cap situation. - Jkuzzi

we should start a pool.
i'll take a bridge deal at 8 and long term at 9.5 for EP and 6.5 bridge for QH. i don't think either the team or the player wants a long term for QH yet.
these are not what i would personally do for but these are my predictions for the pool.

My guess is a few pages back, but I’ve already forgotten what it was. 7.7 and 6.5 maybe?
Also, NYN, the chances of an OS are soooooo slim it isn’t even worth worrying about it.

OS is fun to talk about but never gonna happen which makes it the perfect topic for this place.
...i forget which commentator said it but he thought offersheets help the team with the unsigned player. basically it just ends negotiations and you (the GM with the unsigned player) just sign the deal. saves you time and headache and you move on to the next issue.

Yeah, that was the case with Carolina and Aho. Owner was stuck on the number and GM couldn’t get the deal done. I’m comes MTL forcing the owner to decide if he’ll pay it or not. The GM got his guy at the price he wanted, basically by going around the owner (not intentionally).
To sign Petey to an OS it would have to be a stupid contract (for Canucks not to match). This would also put the team that offered it in the same stupid situation. Will never happen ( unless Rick Dhaliwal starts reporting it, then for sure)…
