I realize Caufield is a fan favourite and habs fans don't want to trade him but I think we could afford trading him with the Hoffman signing.

I realize it's a lot to give up but the team would be much improved imo.

I don't really consider a 3rd line centered by Evans "dangerous" to be honest

This team is better--- we tend to forget that Weber was a disaster during the regular season---

I'd say we're lateral to last year at best. Hoffman is a great upgrade to our top 6, thank (frank) there won't be anymore Lehkonen, but we also lost Danault and Weber which are big blows. I think Savard is worse than Weber in every way and Danault isn't replaced whatsoever. If we get a good center and maybe a mobile dman too we're defintiely improving over last year.

If Eichel was 100% healthy, sure, but I'd have a hard time trading Caufield with both the injury uncertainty and his big contract along with it.

Weber still managed 19 points injured with the habs playing very inconsistent hockey the entire regular season and he still managed to defend well injured in the playoffs. For a guy who's supposed to be kinda mobile and I've seen some reports call Savard a "puck mover", his point totals the last couple of years are horrible. If he plays like he did 5 years ago, then it's a different story. In any case, I think we're really going to miss Danault on defensive zone face offs and face offs in general.

Is it certain he'll be a top 5 center after his surgery? Then there's also the fact Caufield is in his entry level contract and Eichel signed to a huge one.

I just would trade a winger for a center--- cause right now our center depth might be the worst in the league-----------------------------------------------------by far
