Traded Johnson and a 2nd and gained almost $12mil in cap space, brilliant!

That is definitely not how it works.

Seabrook contract still counts against Tampa's cap. They're just allowed to exceed the cap by his 6.875 mil.

I dont get why teams do this.

Unless the player comes back toward the end of the season, what's the point? It seems to be a zero sum game.

In this case Tampa cleared 5m in cap from Johnson.

Ah... took on a dead contract to send away a player. Ok - guess that adds up.

I bet every GM in the league is pissed at Bowman in Chicago right now.

Every GM in the Atlantic division should get together and pay Seabrook's salary so he can truly RETIRE and there goes his LTIR!!

If Tampa hits the cap again it will be. Looks like no more assets getting moved.

No. That’s not how it works. They cleared 5m in cap. You don’t get an extra 6m from Seabrook.

Exactly. We ditched Johnson's live contract for Seabrook's dead contract. Johnson's 5m goes to the Hawks and Seabrooks 6.8m goes to Tampa's LTIR. In effect, the Lightning gained an additional 1.8m in cap from the excess of the dead contract over Johnson's active contract.

I heard that Seabrook is moving into Ohlund's old condo on Robidas Island.

Perry just signed in Tampa.

Have mixed feelings about that. He's a dirty cheap-shotting poopbag, but it's a good signing otherwise.

Yes, but when he plays like that as a Bolt we'll call it "grit, toughness, and tenacity"
