30 points isn’t a good season for a rookie?
- SuperSchennBros

its ok...i wouldn't say good or bad. Or are you talking about his second year when he got 30 points

So I answer you question and you come up with…it’s not good or bad. Well I guess when you flip flop, you just can’t lose.

That's often true, but in Myers case, he was undersized going into his junior draft and Rouyn took a chance on him based on his, get this, hockey sense.

Once he stopped growing and got some bodily coordination, he instantly blew up. Would have easily been a 1st-round pick going back into the draft.

No questions whatsoever about his hockey sense until a few months ago.

So juniors and it should never be a question again? Different levels.

Is interesting. Someone else said anything that happened before is irrelevant before the nhl. Not my argument but just a thought. When he was signed at 19 or 20 he was six foot five.

Why did all teams pass on him in the draft and why wasn’t he signed by Calgary. Also not saying he is garbage but I do question his hockey iq. You and I discussed this before so no worries. I find it interesting that Bill reported it though as well.

Yes, so terrible Vegas wanted him. News flash, Nolan Patrick is a more wanted Commodity than Morgan Frost at the moment.
- SuperSchennBros

NP asked for a trade and was being shopped... he was a throw in. Nashville thought so much of him that they flipped him for Cody Glass, a guy who's struggled even worse than NP up to this point.

No idea where Frost figures in to any of this.

Zegras was by far the best in the world jr tourney and he has more more than double AHL games than York
- bradster

That was last year. Think Zegras going back to the AHL this year?
Only reason he had more games than York last year is because York went back to Michigan.

Realistically only one forward on that list that is currently being counted. They also only have 5 defenseman being counted although you can count Morin, who is listed as a forward. The Flyers don't have the 2M to spend on a center. Your cap accounting is off. After Sanheim and Hart and with carrying an extra forward and an extra defenseman, they will have somewhere around 1M in cap space. Which you need to keep for injuries.
- MJL

Man, do you realize how stupid this is?

$50,389,523 is for 15 FORWARDS
$21,100,000 is for 5 defense
$2,000,000 is for Jones

So $73,489,523 cap used.
$8,010,477 cap free.

Sign Sanheim, Hart, 3C for $9-9.5M

That puts you at most $1.5M over cap. YOu are sending two forwards down, that is at least $1.8M. Its called CAP MANGEMENT. Yes, I know, math is hard.

you think jr's is the same as the pros? Plenty of guys were stellar in that tournament that didnt even have more than a blip in the NHL
- bradster

Let's see how many are on opening day rosters this year whilst York is in AHL.

prob not, he will make that awful anaheim team. He's put up .5pts per game, that's decent for a rookie

As MJL has said a million times, nobody questioned his IQ in LHV or his first 100 games here. Quite the opposite actually... his ability to anticipate and break up plays was lauded. His intelligence in choosing when to jump into the play was lauded. The GM gushed about his poise w/ the puck. And all of that was clearly on display in his underlying numbers, which continued to be strong over the course of his short career, even this past season.

Yes, he made some gaffes this season. His development clearly got subsumed by everything going on around him. Flyers chose to go for the known quantity in Ellis. It is what it is.

Michael Leighton could come out of retirement and probably turn in a top-10 Vezina performance behind that team. They barely spend any time in their own zone.

Look around the league, does every team make top prospects play a year or even half a year in the AHL before bringing them up? The answer is no.
- backfire

Do winning franchises make undersized defenders play a year or even a half a year in the AHL before bringing them up? If they aren't planning on giving a small player a year to get used to playing with men, they don't draft them.

The Flyers already showed that they will get pushed around in the playoffs. Opponents don't need help there. Yandle Ellis and Risto won't get pushed around.

I get what you are saying but that is not quite accurate since one of those 15 forwards listed is Sam Morin, and Wade Allison is not listed.

My prediction is that TS and Hart take up 7.5-8 in cap space. Subtract Cates and replace with Allison, and most likely send down Laczynski.

Move Morin to defense and the total goes to 21,850,000 for 6 defense.

Subtracting Morin, Cates, and Laczynski, and adding Allison gives you 13 forwards making 48,714,523

Jones 2,000,000

For a total of 72,564,523

That leaves 8,935,477 to sign Hart and Sanheim.

Lets low ball and say they sign for 7,500,000 combined (say 4,25 for Sanheim and 3.25 for Hart)

That leaves us with 1,435,477 in cap space.

Not really enough space to add another FA imo.

Its enough cap space for emergencies but Its still really close to the upper limit for my tastes.

For the record he only went to their development camp. Who gets a contract coming out of rookie camp?

Flyers invited him to main camp that same summer and the rest is history.

Same age. Same draft. There is a reason Patrick wanted to leave because it sounded like prior to this passed season, he wanted to come back. What changed? Oh yeah, Patrick wanted out, got out and no we’re stuck with Mr Glass.

York listed at 5'11" 175 lbs, that's not that as small as you're making him out to be and he'll probably be heavier by the start of season.
