True, I think they need a lot more of that throughout the lineup. I also hope they don't pass up opportunities to shoot. Just a couple of rookie habits that should hopefully be broken in a full season.
- I Am The Breadman

Khaira is supposedly great at using his big body in puck retrieval so that would be useful on the 4th line and PK.

Even though he's still a wiry teenager, Reichel is actually pretty good at puck retrieval too. Fearless and resilient. Great hockey sense of where to be and willing to take a hit to make plays.

I agree and really think Kalynuk is best off marinating more in the AHL with Mitchell and Beaudin.

Starting 6 for the Hawks:

S Jones
McCabe
Murphy
de Haan
Stillman
C Jones

- Theo Fox

The Hawks don't let players marinate in the A. It hasn't been Bowman's MO at all. Guys are usually shipped out at the end of their ELCs if they aren't in the NHL by then. Many, rightfully so.

Of course, most of that was under Dent and I still have no idea about how they feel about King's development of prospects yet.

Doubtful. Savard was traded for a pick that was going to be the bottom of the first round, and TB got him at 25% of his cap hit because he technically was traded from CLB->DET->TB. Trading him in "normal" circumstances doesn't net you a first for him.

Murphy is what he is at this point. Probably considered by most to be a solid 4. I'm not sure anyone at this point thinks he is ever going to be more than that. His current salary slots him exactly there, as a middle pairing D-man. You might be able to get a late first or a couple of seconds for him at the TDL, but that may have to include retaining salary also.

- TheTrob

I would also try and resign Murphy to a three or four year term for his current aav or slightly more, maybe same as McCabe. I’m not a Strome fan, he does not add value to this team, his $3M aav should facilitate a trade, although I have no idea what the return would be. Unlike some here, I think that Nylander deserves another shot(he’s 23), he has decent size and speed, if he doesn’t pan out, then Hawks move him, maybe Fleury and Nylander for a #1.

LBR said Khaira is better than Kampf at retrieval not that he is great. As for PK duties, guess we have to see but I am not expecting much. Especially is the Hawks still employ a system that leaves one forward doing all the chasing plus leaving the top of the ice open.

Yes about the Hawks not letting prospects marinate long in the AHL. They most definitely should, though, and hopefully are headed in that direction. Who knows with this team.

2012-2013 Team USA Under 20 Gold Medal Team featured...
Captain Jake McCabe
Asst Captain Seth Jones

And current Dman Connor Murphy

Is it simply coincidence that once the connection between the Hawks, the USA program, that once Jones became available that HE became the target as he has been scouted for years by them?

And the wait and see if Boqvist can ever play a full season healthy and/or reach 17min a night and not be sheltered was scrapped- once this trio (all about to hit their prime) became available?

All winners. All leaders. All....kind or 'similar' (not the SAME, crybabies, so keep up) but all rather same to the roles of...
Keith - Jones
Seabrook- Murphy
Hjarll - McCabe

While the cup Hawks all developed in CHI system, those 3 developed in the USA system - and are now reunited and all about to hit thier prime years.

If anything now, the clock should be ticking on JC

And Tortella (Team USA guy) and he has evolved through the years....is available

- PatShart

Sign Jones and then hire Torts? Why not. At least it would be entertaining watching try to turn Kane into a shotblocker.

They tried that with Strome last season and he ended up being benched. Just move on from him.
- Elbows15

Yes. Forget the analytics BS or thinking he can find himself as a winger, how many more visuals does anybody need to know this guy can't play at the pace required in today's NHL?

Too bad Adam Henrique's deal is for 3 more years, I'd take him back in return in a trade. Or Rickard Rackell with the Hawks throwing something else in.

Khaira will surprise people, he'll be a solid contributor on the 4th line and a physical presence.

Is he supposed to be kinda Reeves-ish? big forechecker, etc? I know nothing about the guy.

Scouting reports (and some limited video that I've seen of him) say that Borgstrom has very good hands and has the ability to get hard, accurate shots off from a variety of areas. He's my most interesting playing when camp starts.
- Chunk

Thanks for sharing. I've been really wondering what to expect from this guy. I don't mind the Hawks adding someone that will shoot from all over the ice. They lack that right now IMO.

No matter how many points he puts up, Strome will always be on the wrong end GF and GA. He is a major defensive liability.

Is like your crying when a 1st round pick isnt really a first round pick if it's the Hawks....

You're boring.

There are a lot of people excited about some of the moves the Hawks made

Wiz, who follows prospects, wrote specifically why Jones is a great add. Many around the NHL know why Jones is a really good addition in talent.

And there is the the connection these 3 have in team USA development program that can excite people

I honestly dont care what you think after this post. All you have done for days is whine. Its old. Boring. Exhausting to read. No one cares.✌

To the ones that do care - it's a pretty good/interesting trio on the backend. I would expect Murphy extension this year and the backend core is set with those 3 - and moving pieces around them

I don't give a flying (frank) what you think of my posts. Don't like em., don't read em.

You're a colossal jagoff in any event.
