I can’t envision a trade for Tarasenko that does not include them in some way.
- Wildschwein

I'd honestly rather see STL retain salary than take back either one of them. Salary retention gives us Tarasenko at a discount for two years. Sending Komarov or Hickey back to the Blues essentially only gives us one discounted year of Tarasenko.

It would have too unless they’re retaining a ton of salary and OR lameriello doesnt plan on adding a defenseman which I don’t believe for a second.

I'm just going off of what the Blues writer had talked about in his article:

Armstrong could make more cushion with the trade of Tarasenko, and with Saad’s cap hit coming in somewhat lower than expected, perhaps the Blues GM would be willing to retain more of Tarasenko’s $7.5 million cap hit than in previous talks around the league. If the Islanders are indeed back in the mix, they have approximately $17.6 million in available cap space but have three RFAs of their own to sign: forward Anthony Beauvillier, defenseman Adam Pelech and goalie Ilya Sorokin.

Beauvillier, 24, a left winger, has been mentioned as a possible candidate to be dealt by the Islanders in some trade conversations, including a Tarasenko deal. The Isles were on Tarasenko’s original trade list and sources have said that he would accept a move there.

I mean it's a tough call, deciding who we'd give up if it absolutely had to be one of them. Beau is a much more well-rounded player and more versatile. Wahlstrom has a wicked shot, has the potential to be a dynamic goal scorer, and is younger and still on his ELC for two more seasons. I guess I'd have to lean Beauvillier, but I also really don't want to lose either for such a risky proposition. I just think Wahlstrom had 30+g potential and can turn the tide of a game with one shot. He had almost as many goals and points as Beauvillier did despite playing 4 less games and averaging four minutes less time on ice.

Wahlstrom to me has the potential to be a much better player then Beauvillier while still being cost controlled. Wally isn’t far out from being that better player imo while I feel Beau is at more of a what you see is what you get kind of stage. Not a knock on Beau I think he’s a useful player I just believe Wahlstrom is better already and will only get better.

With all of this said forget about tarasenko and focus on signing a defenseman, Palmieri, Parise, Beau, shed some salary, and cizikas and call it a day.

Wahlstrom is definitely better then Beau. Comparing their NHL numbers I support that.
Once again Barry chooses to sit the better player. His firing should be announced right after the Free Agent signings.

I’d expect a deal to include elements of both.

Watch it be something weird like:

St Louis trades Tarasenko with a little retained to Arizona for Kessel.

Arizona trades Tarasenko with a little retained to the Islanders for Komarov, a prospect and a pick.

Thus:

Blues get a cheaper right winger to replace Tarasenko.

Islanders get a somewhat cheaper Tarasenko.

Arizona gets picks, prospects and less actual money spent.

I hope so but meh I don’t know I think there’s something going on with St. Louis. Honestly hope I’m wrong about that would rather stick with what I said…

Watch Lou trade for Scandella instead of Tarasenko.

I'd have to imagine if they're going to land Tarasenko with a ton of money retained (ie: twice) that they'd be giving up more than Leo and a prospect and a pick. Unless the pick was a 1st and the prospect was someone like Bolduc or Salo.

That’s the only reason I’d do it if I were them.

Too expensive for me, personally. But I’m bored and have nothing better to do than pour over CapFriendly, so… 🤷‍♂️

We should not even be discussing trades on a hockey site. It shows a lack of faith and trust in GM's. Lineup discussions are a No No as well.

I missed this place as well. Glad I'm back.

Anyone want to help me move furniture from my garage into my house this weekend?
