Jays got fleeced.

At least it wasn't a rental.

I hate trades for rentals.

I didnt see what they traded
- Fakepartofme

Austin Martin and Woods-Richardson.

Martin plays SS, and we have Bichette and Groshans likely ahead of him

Berrios addresses a need right now

Yup.
Jays moved out their number 2 (23rd overall) and 4 (49th overall) prospects.
Ouch

dodgers gave up the 21st and 43rd overall prospects for trea turner and Scherzer

- Fakepartofme

Scherzer is 37 and a free agent. Berrios is 27 and signed past this season

I guess the fact that Scherzer is a free agent in a few months is irrelevant. I’d say that Toronto sports fans are bipolar if they ever showed anything positive.

Do we have any idea that the prospects the Jays gave up will ever amount to anything close to the years that Vlad and gang have with the team. Show them you’re serious while getting players under control. These are exactly the right moves.

I am convinced Toronto fans have this intense anxiety about the future state of their team.

These prospects are valuable and may be stars in 5 years...5 years! The Jays just got a 27 year old Ace gaurneteed for the next 2 years...Maybe even the next 10...All our sports teams have sucked enjoy the (frank)ing moment for once instead of obsessing over 20 year olds who may or may not be fun to watch in 5 years

And Trea Turner is more valuable than either pitcher

I like Austin Martin, but Berrios is a 2x all-star and only 27, and under team control... What is not to like?

could be, sure... How much do you think he gets next season when he is arbitration eligible? Definitely more than $13M

The Dodgers gave up 4 prospects, not two.. They also got a 37 yr old soon to be free agent.. Here's the kicker, Berrios is also younger than Trea Turner and is not arbitration eligible next year

Yup.
but they also got Trea Turner.

Just hope the Jays extend him.
He should slot into number 3 in the rotation

Both are in their last year of arbitration next year. Granted Turner will make much more money. The 2 extra prospects are nobodies. Carillo is ranked 22 in the Dodger’s system and Casey isn’t even ranked.

Has any of the prospects the jays traded for Price and Tulo panned out? Prospects are just prospects. The jays top prospects have made the team (guererro Jr and company) they can move others and I read the organization had serious concerns about Martin's power.

I'm not happy with losing Martin as he sounds like pretty close to a sure thing to be at least a decent player.

I thought I had read that he can play some OF too. Probably could have shifted him to 3B as well.

Guess Shatkins weren't as high on him and that was the price. Oh wellz.

I am strictly saying Dodgers appear to have gotten a better deal, and widened the gap on the Jays.

Owners of US teams can write off depreciation of player contracts and gain huge tax losses/benefits even if they’re making big money. They do just fine. Amazing article.

That Syndergaard+ for RA Richardey trade still stings.

That one certainly does.

Norris doesn't look that great. Injuries and he is in the bullpen now.

Who got a better deal is up for debate in my book. Jays got a starter, who fits in their window and is under team control.
