Bottom six needs work, Doubt Bunting is a 1st Line guy. That's the spot the Leafs need to fill. Mikheyev and Engvall can (frank) off until they learn how to hit. - winsix
He's not but that's the point. It's not ideal but the cap squeeze is the result of those big tickets so those big tickets get smaller tickets on their left side.
You spend big on a winger for Matthews and you're left with peanuts for the bottom six. I'd rather have a soft spot on Matthews left then 2 bottom lines that get outplayed every night. |

Kampf has 0 offense and does not belong on a 3rd line. He is very good 4C who can play 14 minutes a night and on PK. That's about it. - CSKA1981

Nice article on PPP on him today. He scored 12pts in 13 games on a very poopty Marlies team last year.
Could be a real diamond in the rough.
The Leafs are due for some prospect luck. |

Well, that should offset Biega who's 5'10 (and appears to be our mini-Bogo?). |

Just listening to Brian Burke on Overdrive. Miss that guy in Toronto.
He’s EXACTLY what we need right now. |

Not Really, no risk for Lightning, and Perry can play as many games as he feels like and he does not need any money. Good deal and he's automatic to make the playoffs, something neither the Leafs nor the Canadiens could offer.

There's nothing to say. Either our big money players come up huge beyond what is reasonable to expect, or we are (frank)ed. |

I love Burkie too. But the Kessel deal was an unmitigated disaster and submarined his tenure from day 1.
His book 'Burkes Law' is great, btw |

2m for little to no production and it's 2 years, seems like an overpay. He was much cheaper last year for the Habs, is he better this year ?
I wanted him on the Leafs , but not for that |

Can anyone make an argument that we are somehow better positioned to succeed in the playoffs this coming season, assuming we qualify? |

2 year deal for $1 million a year that can 100% be burried in the minors whenever they need extra cap space for a guy that is a proven playoff scorer and former MVP
Great signing for Tampa with zero risk, and 100% of his salary can be burried in the minors and not count against the cap if needed.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "awesome" but it's not terrible. I don't see any reason to give Perry any term. |
