Trade DeBust, Moore, and whatever else they want. That's at least another 7-8 million in cap space. They can make it work.

I'm not saying Buffalo would do that, but Sweeney can shuffle some pieces around and make it happen. It 's unlikely, though, I think. But with Krejci gone, he may really kick this into high gear.

It's doable-ish. DeBrusk is a tough one to trade for his current salary and his QO next year, so the sweetener would suck. But yeah some combination out of Smith, Moore, Coyle would get the cash there, but then you need to replace those roles with more than just Eichel and as a word of advice, I'd avoid 41 year old players thinking they still have a shot at the cup.

Tarasenko might be a more realistic option just because his value is diminishing and he's not a divisional "rival".

I'm thinking the Jays will want to bring back a player with term (Gomes is UFA). They're on the outside looking in this year (a long shot) but they'll be in the thick of it next season. Especially, now with Berrios locked up for another season.

It would take a stroke of genius in order to pull it off, but we're talking about Buffalo here. Although, Adams did a great job offloading Ristolainen.

The money could work is all, but we don't have the pieces to make it happen unless Buffalo overvalues one of our prospects or something, which is unlikely.

Gibson isn't a rental - he has one year left, he's 33 and a Free Agent after next year. He's been great this year and has never been before. Same with Ian Kennedy actually. I mean he was great a decade ago - but in the past 10 years, he's been pretty mediocre at best, but is having a decent year as a reliever this year. Kennedy is a rental.
