It's 1 million per year.

100% can be buried.

Its an awesome deal for the Lightning.

- Leafs43

It's an amazing deal. Perry for sure could have got more elsewhere. Doubt he needs the money.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "awesome" but it's not terrible. I don't see any reason to give Perry any term.
- mjones242

Because there is no downside.

Sure - awesome was too far.

But if he sucks - they bury him. This costs them nothing but $$$ and a contract spot.

Mik-Tav-Nyl
Ker-Kam-XXX
Eng-Spe-Sim

..something like that right now I think? With about 3M to spend on the XXX.

There will be a call to switch Kerfoot and Mikky but I say (frank) that. The big4 can utilize their super expensive skills to make Bunting and Mikky better.

Kerfoot, Kampher and a big hard hitting winger would be decent way to make a 3rd line ..I think.

We should be spending the money on someone who can play with Matthews and Marner, not for the 3rd line.

Can anyone make an argument that we are somehow better positioned to succeed in the playoffs this coming season, assuming we qualify?
- fifty__missions

I can make the argument on why we aren't. Just let me know when to start.

Just listening to Brian Burke on Overdrive. Miss that guy in Toronto.

He’s EXACTLY what we need right now.

Member when he said signing Beauchemin and Komi gave the Leafs the deepest D corps in the conference?

Member when he made Dion Phaneuf captain?

Beat me to it. They are the first call ups for injuries though. I also wouldn't be opposed to moving Engvall and possibly Mikheyev.

2 year deal for $1 million a year that can 100% be burried in the minors whenever they need extra cap space for a guy that is a proven playoff scorer and former MVP

Great signing for Tampa with zero risk, and 100% of his salary can be burried in the minors and not count against the cap if needed.

- winsix

For some reason I thought it was 2m per season, I would have loved Perry for 1m per. Wanted him on the leads last year

That still looks horrible.

Not sure changing the order is going to make things "look" better but:

Ritchie, Matthews, Nylander
Bunting, Tavares, Marner
Simmonds, Kerfoot, Mikheyev
Engvall, Kampf, Spezza
Brooks

I would try that first. One tough guy per line to keep the little boys from sharting in the drawers. Switch the LWs around until they click.

Defense:

Rielly, Brodie
Muzzin, ???
Sandin, Holl
Dermott, Lily

Campbell
Mrazek

If we could find a partner for Muzz and get Ritchie, I wouldn't be too depressed next season.

Then it comes down to the stars to actually play and JT not to get trucked in the first 2 minutes of game 1.

I would still trade Rielly this summer for a winger like Tkachuk and Kerfoot for a D man.

Tkachuk-type, Matthews, Nylander
Ritchie, Tavares, Marner
Bunting, Engvall, Micheyev
Simmonds, Brooks, Spezza

Muzzin, Brodie
Sandin, Kerfoot Trade-Cross checker
Dermott, Holl
Lily

Campbell
Mrazek

¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Yeah, I get it. He's buriable.

Regardless, I don't see Perry as worth 1M -- especially when we have Spezza at league minimum and who has outperformed Perry.

The superlatives here are a bit out of proportion. 🤷

Holl will be paired with Muzzin. Dubas wouldn't have protected him to play 3rd pairing. I'm hoping we can get Rakell for top line LW.
