Reaves will definitely have an impact on our young players in training camp too!

Somebody has to show them the veteran tricks on how to hit and (just as importantly) take a hit.
Guys like: Kakko, LaFranchise, Chytil, Barron, Gauthier, Lindgren, Cuylle, Geersten etc. can all benefit from having him in training camp to show them how its done. Obviously, we don't want all of our youngsters to go out and pick fights, but its not a bad thing to instill confidence in them for when they get into a bad spot and they have to defend themselves.

I'm fine with Eichel over Zib for the reasons you bring up, BUT it doesn't matter if the (frank)ing guy can't move his neck. As of now, nothing suggests he is good to go. Until then, well.........

You are absolutely right about that. And who is going to trade for him without knowing what his medical situation is?

It makes the 3rd round pick more reasonable now with the extra year

If you think about it the full trade is:

Howden and a 3rd for Reaves and a 4th

- TPC

If I’m upset Every time I see them trade a pick higher than a first, I think to myself Oscar Lindbom...and all the sudden I’m ok with it

With the way things have been going lately in the world, I am half expecting the meteor to strike soon, so might as well try to win within the next few years.

Very true. Let's go with "the world is ending theory" and get em all!

My only problem with Strome is how bad he is on draws. Career 45%, regardless of who the other center is (Eichel 44% Zib 49%) we need a top 6 center that can win over 50%. Goodrow is 52% and Rooney 46%.

If you bring in Eichel, in a year, you would have $30+ wrapped up in three players (Panarin, Fox and Eichel), and $40 million in 4 players if they bring back Zib. Then you have guys like Trouba and Kreider that make a bunch to. Keeping Zib and Eichel would mean that someone would have to go.

The only way it works is to have Buffalo retain salary AND for Fox to give us a hometown discount in the 7.6m-7.7m range.

Somebody check the farmers almanac to see when the meteor is going to strike, then we can govern our off-season moves and salary cap accordingly.

It’s either Eichel or Zib. Not both
- nyrangers9479

Agreed, but it seems like no team is in a rush to get Eichel, whether it be due to Buffs demands or concern over his health. Let's assume that it will be Zib, Strome, and combo of Chytil, Goodrow, Baron and Rooney. I'm fine with that...not to mention that dome prospects always seem to show up out of no where'd in training camp

Which is why Ive been so adament about getting Dvorak. He hits all the bases and will undoubtedly get a huge scoring boost playing with Panarin.

Fox might give them a discount but not that big of a discount. He will be worth $10 million a year. He's a Norris Trophy winning defensemen now.

Did anybody ever find out how Barron was at faceoffs in Hartford last year?

Oh I know. I ran the numbers through AGM to see what it would take to squeeze it all in. 25% retained on Eichel, 7.7m for Fox and 8.3m on Zib. Barron would have to be the 3C. League min 4C.

Not sure if people looked, but Goodrow took over 300 draws this year, and won exactly half, 50%. That’s why I think he’s penciled in at 3C for the next 6 years. 300+ isn’t a low number imo. Probably would take more here

Aha. Didn’t see this lol. That’s great if true. I’m 100% for him playing all games in Hartford this year, which I think he will

Yea, last year they started him out on LW to get his feet wet. Then they transitioned him to C. Eventhough it was a crap season, 10g 11a in 21gp is significant.

He did have great stats in college, but AHL is a whole different level of play, and the NHL is exponentially harder.

LA still makes to much sense to trade with. Kopitar is going nowhere for another 3 years. I’m guessing Byfield is untouchable and Danault is their 3C.

That leaves Turcotte Kupari Kempe Vilardi. I wonder what it would cost to get Turcotte. LA need wingers and defenseman.

Kravtsov and Nils for Turcotte?

Is Turcotte’s value that much higher than Eichel’s that we go ahead and offer up Nils?
