I think they want to compete. Kopitar Byfield Danault is how they look down the middle now. Vilardi Turcotte Kupari Kempe are all natural centers, do u just move all 4 to wing?

I'm not sure. I was a big fan of Turcotte in the NTDP and at Wisconsin but haven't seen him play in the AHL. It looks like he put up pretty good points but the stats in the AHL are so limited. I'd be happy with him, but I think Kravtsov and Nils is an overpayment. Kings fan may say it's not enough. Who knows? What I do know is now that it's been mentioned on this board it will never happen

Does the nonstop Eichel chatter also mean it will never happen?

There has to be a trade idea the Rangers have for a center that we just don’t know about bc they continue to ignore the position in trades and at the draft. This year was a perfect year to add a center and we picked another winger. Not saying Othman is bad, but y don’t we start stocking our center depth when we haven’t had any the past 15 years. I don’t care how many centers we draft in rounds 3 4 5 etc, we need to try and stock some higher end talent at the center position.

I was a fan of the Othmann pick, I think he's gonna be a solid player. I think the thought process is that you take the best player available since they are a couple years away anyway and if you have a different need when the time comes you trade someone. That leads to your point though, it's getting to be time to flip some prospects at our deep positions for a center. The question is do we go after a guy like Turcotte and continue to ice a pretty young team or do we bring in someone with some more experience like a Schiefele? I lean more towards the more experienced guy, but understand the cap implications that come with that

I say you bring in 2 guys like Turcotte and Dvorak. Let Turcotte grow for a year or so and then trade Dvorak. When Turcotte is struggling you can bump him down to the 3rd line and move Dvorak up. I would bring Turcotte here to be the 2C with Panarin and see what happens. Even if we kept Strome for a little and made him the 3C with that same security blanket. We have to start acquiring centers somehow

Ya I don’t mind him either. Don’t agree with a lot of what he thinks like hating Panarin at first, but I don’t mind him.

We all want the same thing for this team, we have differing opinions about whats ideal to get there. But thats what makes this place fun.

I wasn't throwing any shade there. Just referencing back to that strand of comments!

I enjoy lively debate with anyone. I just don't like when the derogatory remarks start up out of no where. I'm probably guilty of that myself sometimes, although I try to be respectful until someone fires first.

I’ve wanted the Rangers to get bigger, more physical and tougher to play against for years. They finally addressed that and while
I don’t agree with the trades they’ve made they’ve gotten players that I’m happy with. I think this will be a fun team to watch with all of the scoring and hitting they’re going to do, my only grip and I know it’s an unpopular one, but I don’t think you can have both Nils and Fox on the right side, they’re both small finesse defenseman. Having one is fine, but not both.

I posted a stat a few blogs back, do u know how many defenseman were under 6’ tall on the final 4 playoff teams this year?

I remember that post, the answer is one or two I think.
Agree with your point of not wanting too many "smaller" defensemen, but that's why I think Jones is a goner. You can keep 2, but 3 is too many. Nils stays...

Not knocking your point on the D, I think it’s a valid one. The one thing I’ll say is…Fox ain’t you’re typical 6’ dman.

My only problem with Strome is how bad he is on draws. Career 45%, regardless of who the other center is (Eichel 44% Zib 49%) we need a top 6 center that can win over 50%. Goodrow is 52% and Rooney 46%.
- nyrangers9479

Then move Chytil to the wing replace him with either Goodrow or Rooney.
Aren't many of us on the Strome Train. Hell, although I'm fine with Strome centering Panarin, I'm fine with upgrading if we can find a center that we can afford. Ultimately I think this is pretty much the roster going into camp. Going to be the most exciting camp in a long time with all the turnover to see what Opening Night looks like. Only thing I will guarantee is Reaves will be on the ice that night.
