When one of them is the Norris trophy winner, I really don't think is a huge deal lol

It’s not that, and I’m not saying get rid of Fox. But I think 5’10 175 lb Nils is going to struggle come playoff time when the boys are allowed to play a little bit harder. If Nils was the only 1 and he was running the PP I think it would be fine. But we have the best defenseman in the league at that in Fox.

I remember that post, the answer is one or two I think.
Agree with your point of not wanting too many "smaller" defensemen, but that's why I think Jones is a goner. You can keep 2, but 3 is too many. Nils stays...

- TommyGTrain

1. Out of the last 4 playoff teams combined only 1 defenseman on all 4 teams was under 6’.

I mean can we let him play some actual NHL games before we write him off?

I don't understand the need to already extend Reaves, prior to seeing outside of him protecting his teammates, & word of his locker room leadership, his performance level in his mid 30's in attempt to keep up with the game's speed.

Reaves' like annual $1.75M extension through the 2022/23 season; when also assuming for now that K'Andre Miller, Lundkvist, and Barron will still be part of that season's pro roster, will leave the Rangers having only slightly over $34M in cap space, (if the cap ceiling remains at $81.5M), with just 13 players signed, but not including the RFA then in Kravtsov.

But that doesn't also include the cap hits of any goalies, with both Georgiev's & Kinkaid's contracts ending after this season, (if one or both are still here); along with the unknown multi year salary Shesterkin will hopefully soon agree to effective this season, making him the 14th roster player signed for 2022/23.

Shesty's cap hit will reduce that $34M+ cap space available in the 2022/23 season down to under $30M remaining, (if there's still an $81.5M cap ceiling). But those signed don't include of key, Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox likely receiving a $9M to $10M AAV for 7 to 8 years; nor any cap hits among those if re-signing here among Zib, Strome, Kakko, Rooney, Gauthier, Blais, & Hajek.

With his $10M AAV for 5 more seasons, & a NMC beginning in 2022/23, unless agreeing to waive it, Eichel without wanting &/or needing to undergo neck surgery, (even if just his means to entice & hope Buffalo will trade him); is reason why the Rangers can't afford his full contract, even should Zib not be re-signed. Then in two off seasons, Laf., Chytil, Miller, Barron, and Kravtsov will all be due new deals, along with Tinordi if his toughness is still needed here.

I made the mistake of checking after my 5 hour drive took 8. I saw like 20 pages and thought Eichel was a Ranger.

Its funny that even though Reaves is 34 years old, he is actually like Kreider in that he is quite a physical specimen. Fantastic athletic ability. He actually is a really good skater too. Was the extension one or two years? I have seen both reported...

I’m not writing him off as a bad hockey player. I’m writing him off as in to many small defenseman in the playoffs won’t get you far. Like I said, only 1 defenseman under 6’ out of the last 4 teams in the playoffs this year. Love Lindgren and love everything he brings, he’s the exact type of heart and soul player that us fans appreciate and love. But even he’s on the smaller size even though he plays like he’s 6’6 240.

Lindgren 6’ 190
Fox 5’11 180
Nils 5’10 175

That’s half your defense under 200 lbs and 2 out of 6 under 6’. I personally don’t think that gets you far in the playoffs. I’d never get rid of Lindgren of Fox but its part of my reasoning as to why I think Schneider is a better long term option than Nils. Agree, disagree, that’s fine.

This injury is pretty (frank)ed up if he got it almost 5 months ago and still isn’t allowed to play pickup hockey. Plus the fact that he still needs surgery? That’s a major hit on his value, and the Sabres have lost leverage with this statement regardless.

The Sabres biggest issue has been the culture there, and with a fresh rebuild that is bringing in new kids that are going to be key parts of the core in the future, do you really want them to start off being exposed to all this toxic poop with Eichel?

Between the injury and the circus, I honestly think the package that was floated as Kravstov + Georgiev + Jones + 1st could get it done because Buffalo is going to need to accept the best offer on the table before the season starts

Going from his agent saying Jack is feeling very good, to still needing Surgery. To being caught playing hockey games while you should be still rehabbing a injury and trying to get healthy. He could have taken this to arbitration if he chose to, but he didn't. Sabres don't have to do sh!t if they don't want to. Eichel should have kept everything in house and he would have been traded already.

So you said this is relevant for this year, but what about prior to this year? Is this a trend or just something that only happened this year?

If I am Drury, I wouldn't offer ANYTHING right now on Eichel until this gets completely sorted out. Sabres are "stuck" with him for now, no reason to rush into this. What a mess!

I will agree on that, and as much of a sh!t show the Sabres have been I actually agree with the stand Adams is taking this time.
