What do you care what I approve?? No matter what we have a difference of opinion so it doesn't matter what I approve of.

The point is, NO one can remember anything you have approved of. It's tiresome

Every time a new contract gets signed for these top D-men, I cringe a little at what might happen to us. Flat cap and 9m contracts getting handed out left and right.
- aecliptic

That's my worry too. There is $4.5 buyout this year and $3.5 next year dead space with an awful lot of players needing new contracts. Can see bridge deals for some, but Fox and Zib are going to get paid. Going to be really interesting to see how Sather, I mean Drury handles that.

There is a difference between getting tougher than there is to play tougher against!! We needed new blood on the bottom 6. We got it, looks good, was it worth the cost?? Buch a top 6, 25 yo forward, 50 point guy got us a 2nd, Reaves, a 35yo 8 minute guy a 3rd. Its asset mismanagement at it's best. The Rangers are on the clock here. I think they really need to put a run in the next 3 yrs while Panarin is in his prime, not in yrs 6 and 7 of his contract. The cap will be flat the next 2 yrs at least and that's without another (frank)ing lockdown. Who knows what the future holds.

All I know is that with Reaves in their lineup, Vegas didnt win.

Tell me what team had a brawler on it that won the Cup the last 5 yrs?? 10?? Dont say the Caps cause Wilson isnt a brawler. He is a cheap shot artist who can actually play. He is just a Richard.

- Brukie

Ok fair, and I agree the Rangers are on the clock to a certain degree. You mention that Vegas didn't win with Reaves in their lineup, which is true. And if that is important to you, which I get, can't you then say that Tampa did win twice with Goodrow in their lineup and St. Louis did win with Blais in their lineup?

You left out the part of the Buch trade where we got Blais also. If the "going rate" for a 4th line grinder like Blais and Reaves is apparently a 3rd rd pick, we realistically got closer to a 2nd and a 3rd for Buch which doesn't sound nearly as bad.

What would you have done differently? Not trade Buch? Trade for someone else? I'm just curious what steps you think could have been taken to make this team a contender this year. I think we made big strides so far in fixing our bottom 6 but agree we are still definitely not contenders.

Jesus Christ, man. He just asked (reasonably politely, I might add) for you to offer the reasoning behind your opinion.
But, like always, you throw around statements like stupid, or bumhole or I don't care what you think, and then cry victim about how other people are jerks to you.
I wholeheartedly disagree with your idea that you don't take our opinions personally. You react with automatic vehemence and make personal attacks in your responses. Often before anyone has made the same toward you.
So, now go ahead, call me juvenile names and tell us how you are the only one who's not living a fantasy...

The way these moves have come down youd think we let go of like 3-4 prospects by now. Nope. Not one of our prized prospects has been moved.

We lost a top 6 winger who can be replaced by about 4-5 other guys we have, where they won’t even miss a beat.

Lots of people are going to be eating crow, and Ill be the first in line to tell you so😘

Goodrow and Blais are not Reaves. Not even close. Reaves is a 35yo living in the wrong era. There isnt a team with a brawler on it that has won a Cup in the past 10 years. Well not that I can remember anyway.

I just look at it as poor asset management.

I love the Trade for Reaves! 3rd schmerd.

Will miss Jimbro- a voice of reason mostly.

@Brukie- what do you think of Panarin as a player? One of the NHL best? Does he make others better? Good team mate? A wussy? Leader? Just your thoughts without considering value to the Rangers

Dude...this team is in its infancy for (frank)s sake. 2 yrs they’ve had in your eyes to win a cup, are you kidding me?? You’re BY FAR the dumbest person ever to post here. Like dumber than Dundee, which is virtually impossible

That's fine Tony you have your opinion about how I respond and I have mine. Some responses just need to be sterner. Its once again a matter of opinion.

You really made my day when you said to check my heartrate and blood pressure though, it shows me you really care still, after all these disagreements!!

I'm gonna save that little tidbit.

Marching orders from every fan at the end of the season was to reshape the bottom-6, grow into an identity of being tougher to play against, and improve down the middle.

Drury has done the first two. I just don’t see how anyone can be upset with the moves to address them. Some slight overpayments, but they’ve been fine…

So far, I give Drury a B- on the offseason.

Hey man, I'll be the first to say we often disagree. And we often go for the jugular. But, at the end of the day we are supporters of the same team and it's just a pleasant distraction from life's stresses.

It's not a bad trade at all. The salary only affects this season where we have tons of cap space. Reaves will play against the bigger teams that need to be matched up better against (Isles, Caps, Bruins, Carolina Rangers).

Getting a third rounder back before next draft should not be a serious mountain to climb.

People keep mentioning this Dryden Hunt kid. I never heard of him until we signed him (or did we trade for him). What's his story?

I think part of the issue is how do we improve the bottom 6 without affecting the top 6? If the bottom 6 is not the place for a guy like Kravtsov, then he either has to be traded or moved to the top 6. It doesn't look like they are looking to trade him, so to move him to the top 6 either Kakko or Buch would have had to either be traded or moved to the bottom 6. Kakko is definitely not a 3rd liner and you can't pay Buch close to $6M to play on the third line, when we already have Kreider penciled into the 3rd line for $6.5M.

You can argue the return for Buch was underwhelming but looking at the number of wingers that weren't qualified by their teams and the value the wingers that were traded brought back it looks like they received at least close to market value. Would I have liked more? Sure but the market clearly wasn't there. Holding off on trading him means that we don't shake up the forwards to begin the year and stay relatively status quo which I don't think would have went over well here either.
