The best offense is a good defense.
The best defense is a good offense.
All we need is 6 really good, defensive minded, offensively gifted D-men.
Easy peasy.

Imo fleury situation is holding up other moves from happening that bowman could make. I get fleury's situation get traded unknowingly and blind sided and needs to figure thing out with pro career and family. poop move by vegas but at some point in the next couple of weeks fleury and agent need to decide what is next. Play for the hawks retire or ask to be traded to Pittsburgh make decision. No matter the decision hawks should come out on top. He plays for the mentors lankinen hopefully making him a better goalie in the future and could flip him the tdl if the season is not going for assets. Retires 7 million in cap space trade him get assets back from Pitt and cap space. So what is the best scenario for the hawks? |

So suddenly he changes his mine. Plus. Haven't seen any reports of fleury's decision posted or reported other than from barstool. |

From the Edmonton blog. Quote
Edmonton still likely wants to sign another bottom six winger, a left shot defenseman who plays a more physical game and explore the trade market for a way to deal Koskinen and acquire a different netminder. Unquote
This should work. deHaan, Connolly, and Subban for Koskinen and Turris. Maybe Hawks retain some salary to even the $. Then flip Koskinen for a 3rd round pick. lol |

Idk...you get notified you're traded and in the heat of the moment you say some things about retiring or where you won't play or whatever.
He's a goalie. It's not like he's a practiced expert in corporate speak. Plus $7M so it's not like he's turning down a gig at Wendy's. |

I also think it was his agent speaking, and i think he said he's going to have to discuss it with his family then they'll decide what route to go.
I can understand if it was 2 or 3 years but I'm thinking 1 year at $6 mil will be easier to handle. I'm sure the Blackhawks will accommodate him and his family to make this work |

I don't think he ever decided. Let's face it he has financial freedom, but let it soak in for him. |

It's more than he has no guarantees in Chicago
Does he uproot his family for 1 season in Chicago or leave them behind in Vegas?
If he does uproot them, will be then be traded again at the deadline?
What about 2022? Does he find a new team and then have to move them a 3rd or 4th time?
I guarantee you if Chicago offered an extension with a NMC he would play for the Hawks. That, or the Hawks should let him speak to other teams and if he can work out a deal for beyond this season with them the Hawks can trade him there for some picks, or retain some $$ and get more in return

Well let's just hear what Fleury actually has to say. Everyone is speculating for now.
When he's discussed it with his family and the Blaclhawks, he'll probably mull it over and give us an answer. We have how many weeks before the season starts? |

There is a story about it on the athletic from the Pittsburgh reporter Rob Rossi I think? I don't pay for it so I'm not sure what it says |

Yes, you are correct, Bobby was not a great husband or father. He followed the path of many celebrities….Lindbergh, Walter Payton, JFK to name a few. However, all of these people also had a good side . |

It's not like he's playing an east coast schedule. They could work something out like he could play four games in a row and have two or three off. On off days he could go back to Vegas and have one of the Rockford goalies sit on the bench and take shots in practice in his place. For seven sheets SB and MAF can figure something out.

Or just call his bluff and dare him to retire. The Hawks owe him Jack poop. Play here, or pound sand. Either way, who cares? He’s just another guy. |

Penguins blogger writing that Fleury will report to the Hawks if they promise not to trade him at the TDL. Doesn't want to uproot the family again and again.
If true options are:
a) Fleury doesn't report, retires/sits out the year, loses the 6M in actual cash (less escrow) due to him his year, stays home and enjoys his family time, Hawks gain 7M in cap space.
b) Fleury plays for the Hawks all season, gets paid, Hawks have a decent goalie for a year, mentors Lankinen et al., probably moves the family here, Hawks can't trade him at the TDL for other assets,
Of course, if the Hawk defense doesn't improve and they're near the top of the league in HDSC against, he may be shell shocked by the TDL and want out anyway. |

A slight bump maybe. I don't think he gets 5.25M on the open market. Course Bowman will have to outbid himself again. |
