Possibly because nothing they got back probably ever will ... seriously, the guy ought to just sell the team if he is wanting to be the 21st Century version of the Wrigleys. |

I played at McFetridge rink on California and Irving (across from Horner park) was a goalie until I kept going through growth spurts and could no longer afford the pads (played other sports at Neighborhood Boys Club at Revere- my dad worked there for a few years in the early 80's). Revere uses to have an outdoor ice we would practice on. so uneven and patchy (was pretty much just a big frozen puddle). - Revco38
Hey Revco, I played at NBC BOYS CLUB from 1955 to 1959. What a wonderful place. NBC had leagues in basketball, football, softball, little league baseball . You played two games a week , picked your own captain, no adult coaching….it was a blast.

I know the Hull photo was the cover of Time magazine. Jim Norris, owner of the Red Wings and fight promoter wanted to have Gordie box as a heavyweight. - LAHawk

With players like Tuch, Byron and a few other notables having off season surgery and them not being ready in time for the start of the season, I wonder if there will be a lot of players going on LTIR on day one of the year. If so, could teams with an extra marginally talented player like the Hawks (deHaan, Strome, Connolly, Carp, Subban) benefit and be able to move them on day 1? |

Already got our guy in Hernandez and can pick up his option for next year too now that Madrigal is gone. Or go find another FA. Middle infielders without power are replaceable and Kimbrel is an elite player that helps us win now and next season as well(he’s also got an option for a 2nd year that we’ll definitely pick up).
Sox bullpen is absolutely ridiculous. Cease will also be part of the pen in the post season. - SimpleJack
Quite curious how Kimbrel "magically" picked up 5mph after his last two POS years? |

There are still 39 UFA's available that averaged more than 13 minutes ATOI last season. When the music stops there will be some decent players without a chair. If Fleury retires the Hawks could benefit somewhat.
On the other side of the coin, because of the surplus it might be harder to move deHaan, Connolly, Strome, Carpenter, Delia and Subban.
9 teams still have $15 mil in cap space. So there is that. |

Had not seen this 30:00 shift by shift of Nolan Allan. Thanks for posting........... Looking at his stats I thought yea, they reached, but after watching this I can see where he might not be there with their next pick at #62.
Damn, this kid can flat out skate and this at 6ft 2in 195lbs. Not only does he skate beautifully he can ride his edges and has excellent balance...... Kid shows a ton of confidence and it's all predicated from his skating. Kid shows IQ too to read the play and with that skating to fall back on steps up at the blueline, or even the neutral zone, and stops rushes. ..... LBR's fancy chart shows the kid in the 95 percentile of stopping rushes and this film shows why. ...... He's not afraid to jump up due to that skating but he seems he won't take risks but the IQ and feet are there to do so.
Great understanding of leverage/body position along the walls and in his slot to go along with being strong. Pretty solid stick work defensively too........
And I agree with the scout who said he showed offensive upside at the WJC-18. He showed hands moving past 2 players from the attack blueline along the wall to get to the circles and fire.
I like this pick, a LOT, no matter most had him way lower. High high floor and fills a need. Damn nice looking 18 yr old. - Mr Ricochet
Those farm boys from Saskatchewan grow into very big and strong men in their 20's. And they play hockey at night after going to school and then doing the chores on Mom's list. They earn their keep.
Heard one scout say Allan cleaned up a lot of Brandt Clarke's mistakes in the U18 tournament.
Who knows, the kid might surprise and become a real player in 5 years.

Same number as White Sox have won in last 100 years, one. I don’t understand the back and forth, both franchises have a pathetic number of championships. |

Considering what Hamilton and Werenski got I would say that there were plenty of teams that would have paid that cash.
I get the argument that the Hawks gave up a ton to get him and I don't really deny that right now. I just take issue with most saying that it definitively was an overpayment regardless of what he does on the ice.
If he ends up what we all hope he will be, I just call it the price of doing business. - Chunk
What was the hurry to extend him when he still had a year left on his contract? |

In those days Hull wasn’t small. John Ferguson who pulverized Hull and was one of the tougguys in that era was under 6 tall.
Do you remember seeing Hull lifting hay bales looking like A body builder? I’ve seen photos of Gordie Howe fishing with no shirt. He was an absolute beast. - paulr
