sabres have to hold strong here.
they let hasek threaten them with trade me or ill retire.
they cant let eichel do the same. the sabres are in total control here, 5 years left on the contract. - wingz4life
hasek had cards then, jack has none now
"The Sabres had until the end of Saturday to pick up Hasek's one-year, $9 million option, trade him or lose him to unrestricted free agency." |

the sabres i think, did it out of respect for Dom so he could go win a cup - wingz4life
Sometimes it's worth it to show the league you'll work with someone whose done a lot for the organization. The worth of a trade is not only what you get in that trade.
Comparing the two situations is totally different. |

It was Hasek for Federov.
Once Dom found out he said he’d retire rather than see a core guy get traded for him.
Hence the deal became Kozlov and a 1st |

For once Hank, I agree with your post! The agents are making it more and more improbable for Adams to deal his Franchise Centerman. It’s like these fools standing in as agents never went to business school! With Jack being young and clearly naive about this whole thing, by the time he actually matures and realizes the mistakes his “camp” has made, he will be on LTIL and any kind of “star value” will be gone. He will be just a drama Queen no team will want. Man if other players have this Peter & Peter agency, they better find someone new quick in case their career take as turn like Jacks! It’s weekly armature hour with these fools! - firelarry
That statement last night had less to do w Jack and everything to do w KA putting them in their place and being 100% correct. They can't be made to look powerless w their other clients. |

Trust me.. His contract has been insured by the Sabres... they wont lose a penny if he had surgery and it failed... - rapperray
that might be a big question...

But…isn’t holding Eichel hostage for 5 years where he won’t play for the Sabres basically the same as losing him to free agency?
The organization doesn’t gain any assets, and they don’t benefit from him playing and contributing. It’s literally the same thing as a player walking in free agency. Although maybe worse because of the media circus and the fact that the owners have to pay him $50,000,000 over those 5 years.

I know in years past a team was allowed to insure 3 contracts for injury per season.
I’d assume if that was still in place, Jacks is one of them. |

the funny part is, incremental vaccination is saving the world, and has done historically. but this is a hockey message board, lets act like it hm? - IceColdBeer
it certainly is helping the doctors and nurses as those who vaccinated are highly unlikely of a hospital visit |

Umm no because the Sabres don't pay him his $10 million a year then |
