Now you're just an ass making assumptions. No one cares about your ignorance bud. I'm sick off see you fools post this poop on a hockey site like you're some kind of Saint saving the world. Who the f cares if you got the shot or not. - Carubba-Kaleta

But…isn’t holding Eichel hostage for 5 years where he won’t play for the Sabres basically the same as losing him to free agency?
The organization doesn’t gain any assets, and they don’t benefit from him playing and contributing. It’s literally the same thing as a player walking in free agency. Although maybe worse because of the media circus and the fact that the owners have to pay him $50,000,000 over those 5 years. - rangerdanger94
They won't hold him for five years, not going to happen, we all know that.
What COULD happen is he stays long enough to get healthy and shows he can contribute in a competitive hockey situation and one of the other teams suffers a blow or falls behind in the playoff race such that their need for Eichel is higher then as compared to now.
If Jack gets healthy comes back, and everyone has their messaging on point, even if it's begrudging on both sides because they want to work out a trade, and he scores a ton of points driving his value up...this situation is over.
Or, if another team decides to pony up today he's gone.
KA is just trying to say, I'll trade him as I want ppl who want to be here, but there isn't pressure to do it in a rush, it has to work for the Sabres. |

Again, that's the benefit of being a Billionaire. Any loss here is also more than covered by the Bills profits.... if the goal is to suck in 22, and his NMC starts 11 months from now, then really we have time to wait him out. It hurts him not to play this year more than it affects the long term health of the franchise. |

I know in years past a team was allowed to insure 3 contracts for injury per season.
I’d assume if that was still in place, Jacks is one of them. - dadeadhead
but does it cover a surgery that has never been done on an nhl player? |

The Sabres are just a plain old trainwreck on this. Give me a break... Eichel is the best players hands down on this roster when healthy. The Sabres wont see his caliber of talent for decades to come. Let this guy do what he needs to do to get healthy and get him back in the lineup. Who gives a crap if he is a bit of a head case. All that matters is what he does on the ice... PERIOD!!!!! - rapperray
They should have done that in the spring but now its TOO FRANKING LATE this bridge has been burned to the ground. |

Do you and other Rangers fans still want Eichel ? You said it yourself - he's damaged goods. Why would you want a player that's damaged goods ? What you should be saying is : "Let's wait 'til he has surgery, see how that goes, then if the surgery was successful, we can talk about trade scenarios again".
In no universe should any fan of any team (or any GM) want Eichel on their roster until his neck has healed. I guess you could discuss trade proposals now, but you should preface it with "after Jack Eichel has successful surgery, we'd like to trade blah blah blah...."
Right ?

I just can’t see Eichel stepping into the Sabres lockerroom again.
I do think that this could drag on. KA doesn’t have to do anything now, but I think by the trade deadline in February, he’s going to have to take the best offer on the table and move on. |

It’s risk reward. High risk high reward.
I would want him, but for the right package.
The Kravstov + Jones + Georgiev + 1st is something I’d feel comfortable with, if the Sabres are willing to retain 2-3mm per year of his cap hit. |

More than likely you're right.
But I just hate to say NEVER...
Side note:
I said two things:
1. I'll never work in construction project management.
2. I'll never work for Amazon. (I was a vendor for them. Provided their forklift telematics).
I now work for the organization that launches all the new Amazon FC's which is in there Engineering Services (construction) organization as an Amazon employee.
Anyone living near Clay, that's one of my FC's. I play a SMALL part in the overall building launch.
But I'm doing something I said I'd NEVER do. And it was EMPHATIC when I said it. |

The package I listed is literally the rangers #1 prospect, #4 prospect, and a potential starting goalie as well as a 1st round pick.
And the #1 and #4 prospects are NHL ready.

Which means surgery either isn't necessary or uts non-invasive because its less than 10 weeks to camp (I think)... to your point earlier - he's bluffing re surgery. |
