If Jack wants the surgery why doesn't he go to arbitration? Something seems fishy. |

After eichel remains with the Sabres and plays a handful of games this season, I think next offseason/ draft would help the Sabres tremendously.
Aside from the injury hopefully proven not to be an issue.
Probably get a better idea of the 2022 draft position and get a 2023 1st rounder as well. - Boss34
Spot on Boss.
It allows both sides to chill for a couple of months, while positioning the Sabres better.
I mean, what if LA Kings fail to make the p,layoffs again...would be clear they need the help Eichel could bring...same with Minny.
Maybe a new suitor appears? |

That hasn’t happened in any other sport with this surgery though…. Including football, rugby, mma,
etc etc
There’s risk with ANY neck surgery of course - jdfitz77

Tell me more?
I thought Podcasts and demanding a trade were the only option. |

I like my solution.
Transfers most of the risk financially to Jack if it doesn't work.
If it works, problem solved and Sabres benefit by removing the question around the risk of return to play so they can secure a better trade return.
Seems to me, teams have backed out due to the cost associated with trading for a player with significant injury at a high Cap hit...too much risk.
Eliminate the "what if it doesn't work" objection.
Or continue to piss on each other while boping a team antes up |

Feels too much like Jack’s whining gets his way again. One side, publicly, is being wienerish. But I certainly won’t rule out the team behind closed doors.
Just go to medical arb. |

Be fascinating to be able to be there when these medical reports are read. Did Jack even follow through on his PT and whatever was put in place. |

Who gives a fvck who "won" if the Sabres and Jack both have their issues resolved.
Or, they can continue to piss on each other...seems like it is working just fine so far.
Rags only team left, and offering 3 echl players. |

Absolutely, and realistically and (unrealisticly) if the Sabres actually come out competing until eichel gets healthy. Maybe he has something to really go out and prove.
No need to rush this trade and it puts a " sabres aren't making bad trades" sign out front.
I havent been around, anyone talking about tuch? And his injury?

I'm led to believe the offers are all terrible right now.
Do the medical arb, settle on a path and reevaluate in June.
If he's really pissed but healthy, he can sit out and play at the Olympics. If the offers aren't there now then I fail to see the downside on sitting on this longer.
The return is everything and the rest is just noise |

anyone else wonder why jack's agents are pleading their case to the media instead of an arbitrator? - homiedclown

My opinion, part of the reason we’re here is that Jack has gotten whatever he wants. From Bylsma getting fired to being made the C.
In order for this to workout, he has to understand he’s got to be more professional and mature because he’s be starting the season with us in you scenario, no?
He would have to be mature and professional something he has yet to be.
So I’m looking at “winning” as it relates to a consequence, either positive or negative, that impacts the player’s behavior.
Not really concerned with winning outside of that context. |

Both of those teams are rebuilding and doing it right. Trading for him would (frank) up the work they've done. They are building for the long game to be good for years. |

It seems that Jack is saying that he wants disc replacement and it’s not negotiable. I don’t understand how the arbitration works. Is the arbitration binding? I mean, I wouldn’t go to arbitration where the risk of losing would be that I wouldn’t get to have the surgery that I thought was best for mr.

So he’s in breach of his contract then. If he fails to be ready for the season adhering to the treatment as provided by the org without submitting a grievance with the NHLPA and instead chooses to sit in the corner and pout, he’s in breach. |

As a previous poster already mentioned, why haven’t they gone that route yet and instead go to media to play it that way? I think your last sentence answers that - I believe behind closed doors, every org in the league actually agrees with the Sabres position on this. Just my opinion but it makes sense if you think on it. |

I doubt Jack & his agent will go to Arb. They won't win, Sabres have the Dr. who helped develop the Replacement procedure recommending Fusion...pretty hard to convince a 3rd party to rule against them.
He wants the surgery he feels best about...honestly, I can't blame him. Fusion is no guarantee either, and is the "fix" if Replacement doesn't work. Why would you jump to that solution when it remains an option if the other solution doesn't work.
I side with Jack's rational...hate the tactics though he and his agent employed...but maybe Adams is being a cement head on it. |

Well it would be independent doctors that would make the decision on the matter. Not the team doctors and not his. |

It is if the replacement doesn't work, but the surgery is twice as hard and delicate because you have already removed the whole disc to put the replacement disc in. |

I'm no doctor so I won't comment on the efficacy of either procedure. I agree with the Sabres slow playing this though and I don't think they are denying the surgery out of spite. I believe they have legitimate concerns.
He wants out, they want him gone but it's a matter of getting the proper return. The Sabres have plenty of time |
