Pegulas are asking 1.5 billion from the state of New York, which represents 100% of the funding for a new Bills stadium in Orchard Park and four hundred million dollars worth of funding that will be funneled to Renovations for the First Niagara Center in buffalo.
I expect in the end they'll end up getting all of it and better this than another bridge over the Hudson River.
To be clear, 1.1 billion to cover the entire Bills Stadium cost and the other 400 million for the Sabres |

This is simple negotiating 101.
You always start out asking for the moon and stars.
Are they actually going to get 100% public funding? Are they actually going to move the team?
The answer is no to both of the above.
They'll of course come off the initial monster ask and end up accepting less.
Similar to what Adams has been doing when teams have been making Eichel offers.
Ask for a massive return, and eventually accept less. - kingcong39
I expect they get every dollar they asked for |

Interesting that the KBC cost $127m to build. According to the internet's handy dandy inflation calculator, that's $233m in today's money.
For $400m, I'd assume they want to strip it to the studs (cinderblocks).
Granted I understand this is just a starting point in negotiations |

Wish they would have Renovated the arena separately from the Bill's stadium.
Maybe grouping them together gives it a better chance of NY support?
Hey, love you NY and buffalo, but.......
You will have the bisons...
Cuomo wont let that happen.
I see NY giving up at least 50% |

Rumors a few years ago had opening up the sight lines.
So you can watch the game from the concession lines.
New seats would be nice.
Indoor party area including Mary jane vendor/ section and nacho bar for the public ? |

There's a pretty solid chance that #SJSharks end up terminating Evander Kane's contract.
If that happens, they'll have $13.3M in cap space with 12F, 6D and 1G(with G Adin Hill still an RFA).
That would make them capable of adding Jack Eichel without sending back salary.
He goes on to propose Eklund, Bordeleau and a 2022 1st. He takes it even a step further and suggests Meier to NJ and then taking Eichel and Skinner lol. Doug Wilson is know for big splashes in the trade market. - mhp

Lol stop trying to trade for broken goods. You said it yourself.
Also If you have Eichel on a $5 million contract, we better be getting all your blue chip prospects to include laf |

I wish we could get a redo from everything we did after drafting jack eichel.
The last 6 years have made me want to vomit. - joshs
i'm for a complete redo beginning with the three years prior...the sabres tank did not work and sabreland is reaping what was sown

The fact that there is a risk that he is damaged goods is precisely while you are not getting all our blue chip prospects/Laf. |

Which city wants to fund the Pegula’s appropriately to maintain their lifestyle?
San Antonio Sabres - washedup20
this isn't really all that surprising...most, if not all, nfl owners dip into the taxpayers wallet to fund new stadiums...
the pegulas will get their wish
edit: didn't see the 100% taxpayer funded part...

Would you rather take on a bad contract and bad veteran attitude?
3 million could work retained.
Especially if the Sabres can move skimmer for a lesser value than what we acquire for eichel.
Retain 3 or 4 million no bag of berglunds
Keep skimmer for 2 years
Both help reach the cap floor.
Move skimmer with 4 years left vs. 6 years left
Gotta think it would cost less ...
=profit. |

I dont think the Sabres have any interest in retaining money on Eichel. Imagine how that looks when the Pegulas are paying him to win the cup for someone else. |
