This sounds like a very scary procedure the disc replacement. It's a no win situation for either party. If they go on with the procedure he Is out a minimum of 6 months they place him on LTIR and have to take on bad contracts for his cap hit.
There is no guarantee that this procedure will continue his nhl career.
