Anthony Travalgia: David Krejci returning home to Czech Republic to continue career

Now, the Bruins are left to figure out who will fill Krejci’s shoes and anchor the second line—Charlie Coyle likely being the answer there.

A sad day for the organization. Hard to see a vet like that move on. Seems a bit bizarre to me, where i’m sure Krejci could play overseas in his 40’s. Shocking he wouldn’t take at least 1 more run at the cup.

Once we resigned Hall, I thought Krej would give it at least one more year. I like Coyle as well, lets hope for the best. Playing with Hall and Smith might give Coyle the boost he needs to play better

I get that fans like to be optimistic about their team and players, but I just don't understand it sometimes. What exactly has Coyle shown that makes anyone think he can take the reigns of 2nd line center? That nice goal he had that one time in that playoff game? The fact that he's a good guy and liked in the locker room? He hasn't put up 2nd liner stats consistently in his career. He looked abominable last year (injuries or not, no other way to put it, he SUCKED). He's not getting any younger either. We can point to how good he was when he was playing with Johansson and whoever the hell else was on that line a couple years ago, but he was playing against 3rd line talent.

This isn't a case of me not liking the guy either, I just think the d-riding (especially after his stat line and eye test last year) needs to stop and people need to realize he is not the answer.

Don't get me started on Studs either. At what point do people finally say "what you see is what you get" with these guys? I've seen every Bruins AHL call-up for the past 5 years come up and do nothing. Ever. Some get chances with the 1st line, some get chances with the 2nd line, and people still will cry "they need a chance to play and show what they have". They DO get their chances! More often than not the guy who gets called up and has 15+ games experience with no production, is going to be that same guy for the rest of his career.

We are in for a long year boys.

It’s sad to see Krejci go. Even though I’m not a Bruins fan, it was fun to watch him in all those clutch moments in playoff games. His decline reminds of Gretzky when he started to fade. Both still had the hands and could make plays and passes and still bring it.

Coyle is an enigma. When the Wild had him, we needed him to play top six due to our talent level. But he just wasn’t consistent enough to stay there. He would be a beast for a game with strong board play,going hard to the net and running guys over. When he was doing that the only thing you could criticize him for was his refusal to shoot. But then the next four games he would be passive, disengaged and lacking drive.

You wanted him to succeed because he was a good teammate and nice guy. I always wanted someone to get him mad on the ice, then he would kick it in gear. His play reminded me of a Cali beach guy, laid back and just enjoying the ambience of it all.
