Am I nuts or did it not say Parise a little while ago |
|
|
|
Palmieri I get but Parise & Zajac! They both are at the end with ZERO value, I can't believe the Isles don't have a couple of young forwards that can make the team this fall. |

Parise and Zajac played on a line together when they were in NJ. The Isles could sign Brian Gionta and bring back the line.

It seems as things are slowly starting to leak out. I think we are at a point where stating who has been signed will not hurt the club and most of all make us fans hopefully feel better. |

Zajac I don’t agree with signing. If it’s purely a depth signing as an extra forward at the league minimum I’d be ok with it but color me a skeptic with that one. I wonder if this is a sign we’re losing a forward? - Cptmjl
If we’re losing a forward then we should be getting one back. I think this would be more of a nostalgia signing for Lou. Trying to get the band back together. If true, I wonder where that leaves Wally? |

Zajac was invisible or very visible in a bad way for his entire time here minus one maybe, arguably, two games against the Bruins. As the 13th forward on a league minimum contract ok. Anything else would be stupid especially with our current cap situation. I honestly think it’s stupid even at the league minimum Komarov should already be our extra forward who they seem to be enamored with. I say losing a forward because maybe we’re losing some salary aka Komarov and or Bailey and that’s why signing Zajac as a 13th fwd makes sense. Who knows? |

I don't care if it's league minimum.. They should not sign Zajac. The issue with a Veteran like that is coaches have a very tough time scratching him and he ends up taking the place of a younger, faster, stronger, and better player b/c of his "veteran leadership". I didn't want Parise either but after watching Zajac push Wahlstrom out of the lineup for the duration of the Tampa series once he was healthy I don't want him in the mix..... Isles always have these "depth signings" that end up playing a huge role on the team instead of young talent. |

Zajac only as a depth forward makes sense and especially with Casey's injury history. Zajec as a starting player does not make sense. |

This is the danger with these depth signings. We will have to see how things play out but I understand the concern. |

He doesn’t really make any sense as a depth forward if we’re signing Parise, Palmieri, and keeping our players. Also, I’ll agree with nite on this one does anyone really expect him to be a depth forward?
With all of this said who knows if this is even true. |

Nite is not wrong. Most coaches love vets and will go with the vets. This is my issue with Bridge. We should have depth forwards we can call on at this point. |

Nothing wrong with opening the 82 game season with a veteran team, but come April there better be some youth added or they will not play too long. |

I'm not saying I disagree with you. I was more referencing that it seems as though Lou is trying to relive his glory years with those players. Palms, Parise (if they sign him), Zajac, Greene, Schneider. Is Scott Stevens and/or Ken Daneyko on Lou's radar? The New York Devils?
I just hope Wally doesn't have to sit because of Parise, Uncle Leo or Zajac. |

Agreed. This is my concern as well. Unless he plans on shipping out Wally for someone. |

I agree yet disagree a bit. Yes, fine with opening with a veteran team, but you can't just can't throw guys into the line up and "hope" it works. They have to get that chemistry, rapport with their line mates. All in all, I do see what you're gettin' at. |

Wally would bring back Tarasenko but no way I make that deal. |

Didn’t think you were just stating my opinion. With cap space being at a premium Zajac doesn’t make sense to me at any price really the more I think about it. |

Not really. IF Lou was bringing in Tarasenko, I'd want it be in addition to Wally, not in replacement of. I'd prefer to not sign Zajac or Parise. Bring in Tarasenko. Somehow move out Leo's & Hickey's contracts and sign Palms, Beau, Pelech, Sorokin & Zeeker. I don't know how we could do that because I don't think the monies work out, cap-wise.
