Don’t love the term, but absolutely LOVE the coin. I really hope this rumour is true. - Wildschwein
If Friedman is right about it, that's kinda what we figured he might do. Keep the AAV down to leave the team with some flexibility in the short-term but still get paid what he would have on a 3-4 year deal in a normal season |

100% IHM, If these guys don't have a deal in principle you would hear noise about other teams negotiating about them. - nyisles7
I'm pretty sure the other 31 GM's wouldn't just do Lou a professional courtesy and not sign a player because Lou is waiting, took a vacation or went on a 2 week deep sea fishing trip. I'm of the thought that Palms, Parise and Zeeker each have a deal in place. Just waiting on maybe a Tarasenko deal (Beau involved?) and perhaps Pelech. But what the hell do I know. I'm just some schlepp in Indiana. |

As anyone on here knows nothing escapes the black hole/vacuum that is lameriello when he’s doing anything signing/trade wise. With that said I wonder if it means anything that we’ve heard nothing about Beauvillier being resigned yet every other UFA or RFA has been rumored to have a deal in place or be signed already? Just a thought… |

Pelech filed for salary arb and Beau/Sorokin didn't so I think the safe money is that Beau/Sorokin have either agreed in principle to something or happy with where they're at and didn't feel the need to file.
I'm still unsure of how the arbitration could go for Pelech. It's easy when it's a player that's posting good scoring numbers and they can just compare to other players with similar stats. But Pelech's talent isn't as easily quantifiable, that could hurt him a bit in arbitration. |

Really? I don’t find it strange at all it’s par for the course with lameriello. Him signing or not signing players is all most likely connected to whatever he has going on trade wise. If there’s no need to tell don’t that is Lameriello’s MO always has been. - Cptmjl
I guess I worded that wrong. I don't find it strange that we haven't heard anything from Isles camp. Just that since there hasn't been any word, Palms, Zeeker & Parise are still unsigned by another team. Lou doing his clam impression, yes, is par for the course. |

I actually think it’s a “smart” contract for us. He would be a cap dump two years before the contract ends and at 2.5 million it shouldn’t be to difficult to get it done if need be. It also gives cizikas a nice pay day on top of it. - Cptmjl
Does not seem like a bad contract and it's not a 7 year deal so I'm good with it. |

May end up being a good thing for Lou that he filed. I don't think he's going to get lowballed because he's obviously an immensely talented player, but I'm honestly not sure how arb might go for him. |

It would definitely be a home team discount deal. If you're after a cup and this close to it, don't you want to maybe take a little less $$ to bring in the necessary help to finish it off? |

Had the same thoughts when I heard the news.
Has a player that filed for arbitration every signed a max term deal after the fact? |

That I don't know. I am pretty sure they aren't required to sign the deal that the arbitrator awards them, it's just that the team can't offer lower than that number. |

Going to arb tells me that they aren't close on a number/term. As you said, with his low offensive numbers, it's a bit difficult to quantify a dollar amount for him. And I think if the arbitration comes in right around what Lou was offering, He would offer him a little bit more. Just as an olive branch. |

Going to be very interesting to see how things play out since Pelech does not have the offensive numbers. I think Pelech has the talent o put up some better numbers if just might be difficult with the Isles system. |

Why don't we wait until the whole plan/signings and or non signings come together before we judge how or why Lou is doing what he's doing.
It no secret that Lou doesn't let anything out and anyone negotiating is held to the same rule. I think after last year and also the success the teams had under Lou's rule the last 3 year's I think we should all have some confidence that maybe he knows what he's doing and how he goes about it isn't stupid, absurd or dumb. Just my opinion of course. - nyisles7
Even though you are always wrong ... I think you may be kinda right this time.
At least for now, I'm content to wait for Lou to do his thing. |

I said the same thing in an earlier post but I doubt he even makes it to arbitration. |

I think it's hilarious how relatively calm and reassured we all are now that business is being taken care of, compared to if we were in this exact same situation but Garth Snow was GM |

Not a chance in hell.
I Don't think Lou or Barry want to trade Beau unless they can't come to terms on a deal. He's young and part of the core of the team now and moving forward.
Schlepp in IN is a lot cooler than one in Az. |

Winning helps. Even if Lou and Barry did not have the track record, the last two years is enough to have confidence. |
