Garth had one foot out the door and on the golf course the entire time - eichiefs9
It was so incredibly awkward. Ledecky I assume pretty much knew he was firing Snow and Weight while they had zero idea. Snow had his usual arrogant not a care in the world swagger until he realized something was amiss. So awesome |

The best part for me was Snowtard looking like his job was secure and the media was just taking time away from his golf game. |

Why? He’s done 🙄 Couldn’t we find a young player to step in and take over for Greene and Zajac? There is nothing left in either tank |

Crazy thing is, so many of the pieces of last season's team were in place while Snow was here. Hell, they were Snow draft picks and trades. It really goes to show you how much more there is to it than just assembling a roster and throwing it out on the ice. You needed a competent adult to step in and turn it into something successful. |

You mean having Fred Flintstone as the HC and resident yes-man just wasn't going to get it done? It truly is amazing what a competent coach can do for a team. 12 years of incompetence from the top down and it's no wonder why a lot/some of us are still a little bit gun shy with the lack of news from Lou. But I trust him based on what he's done for this team since his arrival.

I think that's it...I really don't think Snow was quite as terrible at building a team as he was portrayed (I base that off of what his picks/trades were able to do the past two seasons). But it definitely seemed like he insisted on being the smartest person in the room, which absolutely destroyed any hope there was of the roster he assembled ever reaching its potential while he was in charge. |

Snow was relatively shrewd at the draft, but his issue was that the Isles were just a revolving door of internal hires and they didn't spend one penny to actually make the team any better.
I'll give credit where it's due, the 2009 draft was a homerun for him. 7 picks that ended up producing 6 full-time NHL'ers. 1st overall was obviously a layup, but finding Casey in the 4th and Lee in the 6th was fantastic. |

Garth was ahead of his time. He was coaching the Isles as well like a like of Baseball GM's are doing now. |

He did ok with some of the draft picks and trades. He did miss on a couple top 5 picks though (MDC & Reinhart). His ego is what did the team in, my opinion of course. He was the smartest one in the room. Just ask him. There was no way he was going to hire anyone that had any hockey sense and would challenge him. To me, the perfect example of that was the Halak situation and the 3 goalies. He punished Halak for his agent speaking out at the detriment of the team. Miss the playoffs because a players agent spoke out against Snowballs. Just dumb and egotistical. |

He was good to a point and never took the team to the next step. Lou put his neck on the line when he went out and got JGP. These are the type of trades/signings Snow never made. He was afraid of the consequences if it didn't work out. Due to this, the team floundered in mediocrity under his watch. As you said, he was afraid to hire anyone who had more knowledge/experience or someone who threatened him. Lack of experience going from the net to GM without any real time spent in an assistant role or similar caused a lack of confidence imo. |

I don't care if it's league minimum.. They should not sign Zajac. The issue with a Veteran like that is coaches have a very tough time scratching him and he ends up taking the place of a younger, faster, stronger, and better player b/c of his "veteran leadership". I didn't want Parise either but after watching Zajac push Wahlstrom out of the lineup for the duration of the Tampa series once he was healthy I don't want him in the mix..... Isles always have these "depth signings" that end up playing a huge role on the team instead of young talent. - niteislander
