SO Rugby, NFL
This surgery is fine for those sports, which are 1000% way more physical than the NH, buts its not OKay for a hockey player
Logic doesn't fit here. - ImThatGuy
What Rugby player moves at 25 MPH or more?
What Rugby player gets paid $10MM a year?
I dont know an NFL player that has had this surgery and played - so - and if you tell me a QB - that 100% is not the same as a linebacker or O/D lineman.
It hasnt been done on a hockey player - for a reason - I dont know what that reason is.
Regardless, its not his decision at this point.

Here. On this board.
There was of course a large contingent of folks that wanted nothing to do with the tank. I still think it was the right thing to do for this team at that time.
Fortunately, this year won't be like that year. Yes the team is lacking the talent to win but they're not going to ship off every veteran that helps them win. I'd much rather develop guys and lose along the way than just flat out suck ass and cheer when we lose. - TheSabresTaco

serious question, does this team have 10 wins in regulation in them? I take the under...
|
|
|
|
They won't which is exactly why this is at a stand still
I can't blame any party here.
Jack wants a specific surgery. It is risky but it would give him the best chances to be 100%.
The Sabres want a different surgery because it's less risky and they want to protect their $10 million a year asset.
The agent is doing what he thinks is best for his client.
Adams is doing what's best for his team.
The Pegulas are protecting $50 million
Medical arbitration probably won't happen here. - Stripes77

In an 82 game season?
That's a damn good question as it roster looks right now.
Get a NHL goalie and I will take the over |

I started to respond that I thought Donnie Meatballs would get them over ten, and then I thought about the goalie situation... |

I have zero knowledge of this type of injury for an NHL player. This is exactly what I was thinking when I was responding to the other post, but it seems odd that there isnt more.

The surgery the Sabres want, is knowingly shortening Jacks career though, correct?. Fusion is what 10 years on a standard person and would most likely be shorter for him to have another surgery. - ImThatGuy
My understanding is the disc replacement will last 10-15 years and then he will need fusion.
After a fusion the next steps usually mean fusion on the disc above and below the fusion but the time table for that is a case by case basis.
Truth be told any type of replacement, fusion, spinal surgery is always a case by case basis.

Assuming Jack is gone and we are going with Anderson & Dell in net, I really cant see us have 10 wins in regulation. How can you fall further then what you were last year? |

I think if the Sabres get average goaltending they will win more than 10 games in regulation.
I just don't know if they will get average goaltending with Dell and Anderson

You get hit harder in the NHL than both football and rugby
That has been proven by science. Rugby is more physically demanding, but it's the bigger hits that concern the team and other surgeons and NHL hits are more severe.
A massive hit could dislodge the artificial disc and then you're talking about a paralyzed Jack if not worse. - Stripes77
Also, the general range of motion is different in hockey than it is in football and rugby.

Now this is humor. I remember listening to his Jeff Skinner love fest and he called him "a great hockey player" during the no score years. The Risto hate fest for years, which I am sure helped build the high opinion you have of him, and the Risto trade gives him a real buzz kill by garnering a high 1st round pick, a 2nd and a player.
No, Jeremy White should stick to maybe football because hockey is not his thing. - GilPerreault11
Ristolainen was so bad here. Just a brutal hockey player
I think the Athletic gave the Flyers an F- as a grade for that trade.
If you seem to think that the value Risto got back in a trade is somehow representative of how good he is, then I guess you didn’t think Ryan O’Reilly was all that good afer all huh?
I look forward to a nonsensical response |

Which is why a disc replacement makes sense
You want more range of motion, but then you're talking about taking a massive hit and it dislodging and you're in a much different side of the argument.

Their defense in front of those goalies is going to be a problem too.

lalaime went 9-26-5 as a sabres goalie
save % .901
GAA 2.98
I expect those type of results with the combo we signed last week if they are a tad better then hutton was |
