"What do you mean Byfield and Turcotte are getting the powerplay time?!?".

All jokes aside, I'm legitimately disappointed he left for a 500k difference. Not because I would have loved paying him plenty of money for a defensive role.... just because I truly thought him playing for the Habs meant more to him than that.

Good luck to him, let's move on with our young guys at centre!

I never quite understood why they didn't put Danault on the powerplay here instead of just losing the faceoff systematicaly and letting them clear the zone for a free 30 second of PK

It's a good question.

Mostly because Suzuki still is having major problems in faceoffs.

At least KK is looking better and better at it, so he's an option.

Bottom line, Danault wasn't seen as someone who could produce enough offense and they wanted him out there to defend, not score.

I'm pretty sure the Kings will eventuallly make the same call.

I think goal scoring ability had something to do with it.

Just my guess..

I liked Danault, but any team that will use him as a top 2 centre will struggle to make the playoffs.

I think you can use him as a 3, on the powerplay to take the faceoff with another center on his unit which even gives you a little depth if Danault gets thrown out the circle, after he wins the draw he can go to the front of the net.

Probably.

He can totally stand in front of the goaltender and not score from there.

I don't even remember him scoring off a deviation either.

We've been saying the same thing about him for about a year now. Ever since he refused that 6 year/ 5M per contract.

Try and keep up Mr. Peanut.
