There was an article about Zibbys stats where he crushed the bottom feeding teams and struggled against the top teams. His point totals are 70/30, he feasts on the Flyers. Has done poorly against the Caps and Islanders the last few years.
Just saying. I'd do the Eichel for Zib trade if forced too. - Brukie
anybody who wouldn't trade Zib straight up for Eichel is crazy
we all know that aint the trade though, much more to it, that's the scary part

Point taken, but wouldn't you think that logic follows as the rule, not the exception? Bottom teams are the bottom teams because lots of people score against them! |

Exactly. One for one, I would still take Mika, because I don't like anything about Eichel. But, I know I'd be alone on that. And I know I'd be giving up some scoring.
But we are talking about losing Mika and a couple others for a small gain, IMO. |

I think the point that most people seem to be missing is trading Zib for Eichel does zero to fix our problems. Our problem is we need a 1-2 punch to counteract the Crosby-Malkins or the Stamkos-Point in the world. If we just swap out Mika for Eichel, we just have the same center problem with a different 1C.

Yeah, I'll disagree.
Over the last 5 seasons, Eichel is 33rd in scoring, Mika 38th. Mika is 5% better on faceoffs, way more hits, way more blocked shots, way better give away/take away ratio and higher percentage of points 5 on 5.
They are similar on very offense, with the nod to Eichel. But, Mika is clearly better defensively. I'm aware of his concussion history. I'd say that makes his head just as fragile as Eichel's neck. So, we already have a similar player that will garner perhaps a couple million less toward the salary cap and won't cost us 4 assets to get into the line up.
Apples to apple pie. - Tonybere
I won't argue the defensive parts because the numbers are what they are and I don't watch Eichel night in and night out.
Offensively, Mika played 323 games in the past 5 year, Jack played 294.
Mika had 136 goals, 147 assists, 283 points. On a per game basis that's 0.42 GPG, 0.46 APG, and 0.88 PPG.
Jack had 115 goals, 184 assists and 299 point. Per game that's 0.36 GPG, 0.57APG and 0.93 PPG.
Eichel has also played the last 5 years on Buffalo's anemic offense. Over those seasons, the Rangers scored 1,125 goals while Buffalo scored 959 goals. So Mika contributed on 25% of NY's goals and Eichel contributed on 31% of Buffalo's. Remember Hall had 2 goals in 37 games with Buffalo this year, then got traded to Boston and put up 8 goals in 16 games.
I don't disagree that when considering the cost, we are likely better off with Mika, at least short term, but I think all else held equal Eichel is a much better offensive player. |

12 points in 16 games vs Isles, 17 points in 14 games vs Caps over last 3 seasons.
That's a poor performance? |

I would think so too but the article was a combination of analytics and production and they pointed out his poor analytics against the top teams being below league average. |

I didn't see the article but my guess based on Brukie saying that he was below league average meant that he has below league average production against those teams. Meaning most other players had better production vs those teams than he did, as opposed to he had worse production vs those teams than other players did overall.
If that wasn't the point of the article than I agree that's not a fair comparison. |

welp, for Carp, after the Giordano fiasco, if the Rangers end up acquiring Eichel and Zib isn't part of the deal, Carp is finished. - jimbro83
