I have no problem with the Reaves signing. But if you think that if Reaves was on the team last year that wouldn’t of happened your are wrong. Wilson snaps and does poop without thinking all the time. He can’t control himself , if he could the suspension would of work. It’s just now someone will pay for his acts. He doesn’t even care if his teammates pay for his stupidity like they did last year, he’s on f’d up guy - way out west
Wilson finished the rest of that game and nobody even tried to hit him though
Wilson even scored the empty netter that game |

Wilson is an animal. Like you said, he snaps and goes into a rage. Reaver will make him instantly accountable. The threat of that might actually spark a thought in the back of his mind that maybe he should let up.
That said, Reaves will probably get a misconduct for coming over the boards on his first shift so there are no fireworks. |

Maybe he will, but rest assured he will gets his ass kicked if he does. The league has more guys than Wilson that cause trouble. We seem to limit it to Wilson as the only singular punk in the NHL. Reaves is a deterrent to any player that wants to get cute and he’ll be worth every penny |

Wilson is hiding under his bed. Reaves is the one guy he didn't want to have in the same division. |

It was a brilliant move to get him. Pure brilliance by Mr. Drury |

I see not one thing negative about getting Reaves. Not one. At most he plays 7 minutes a game? Oh the horror! No idea why this addition caused such a stir. Just sitting on the bench he is worth the money/contract imo. Intimidation is a very necessary aspect of a hockey team - Slimtj100
I agree with all those points you made on Reaves value here, tj. But as for first, his acquisition, I think it simply shocked some expecting a pursuit of signing Ritchie, who then landed with the Leafs at $2.5M. In addition, my first reaction of shock like some was them bringing in yet another tough guy, instead of finally, their #2 center needed, especially should Strome be dealt. Neither have they replaced the offensive production lost with both Buch dealt, and Blackwell lost to Seattle in the Exp. Draft. That makes it a must for both Kakko & Laf. to take their next development steps & produce offensively in order for them just to contend for a 2022 postseason spot.
But second of shock, as I initially wrote last Friday night (2 blogs earlier, pg. 20); despite the plusses that Reaves brings, I didn't understand the immediate need to extend him right now for one season at the same $1.75M, prior to seeing him in some game action, and given the team's foreseen cap troubles after next season. One week's gone by, and despite word a few days ago of a crucial signing being close, Shesty still hasn't been re-signed likely due to those cap worries, (as I broke out in details there with his projected signing). Hopefully, this delay isn't all hinging on Drury still awaiting for Eichel's price to lower, to become that missing center needed, but eating a significant amount of cap, even if some is retained by Buffalo. |

I don’t think they’ll miss a beat without this proclaimed HOFer named Ritchie. Hes a good player, but jesus it’s like he’s some top winger in the NHL or something. We just traded Buch, why on earth would they have got Ritchie? I still don’t get that rumor lol. Much rather have Reaves since he’s locked into the 4th line. Ritchie isn’t a 4th liner. He would’ve been redundant to say the least
Why did he get extended? It’s simple..two years of Reaves is better than one |

I think you're correct there, "rangerdanger," in that they are banking on Gallant to have Chytil develop into a productive center. In addition, they are counting on Gallant enhancing properly the offensive game developments of both Laf. and Kakko, which are a must now with both Buch's and Blackwell's offensive contributions gone. It's likely that Quinn's coaching means may have affected both youngsters potential, due to making them over worry on making defensive mistakes, which took away from their offensive strengths as to why they were selected as #1 and #2 overall Draft picks.

Great money for purely defensive defenseman, but these kind of players get worn down. |

True, which is why short term for Lindgren (gamer but a smaller guy who takes too much of a pounding) was the right move. |

I want to see CK-Goodrow-Blais be a successful line so bad. THeir size and style of play would just create nightmares. It would be like NYI 4th line, but with a much higher offensive upside.

Makar/Jones/Werenski and ultimately the terrible Nurse deal, that should come down any day now, are really going to butt-F you guys with Fox's deal next year |

Might as well head it off and extend him now before he can improve on last year's performance.
Edit: Or do they not have that ability until he becomes RFA? I can't recall and don't see it yet . |

I was thinking Goodrow and Chytil would possibly be a pairing idea for faceoff help if Chytil still is on the team

If he would accept Hedman money right now (about 7.9), I would laugh and take that to the bank. You're right in that Fox might get the moon in his next contract. But this is why I've been advocating that while you can't make trades to make trades, our window really is now before the young guys start getting paid.
In the big picture, we probably should be counting our lucky stars Shesty was hurt last season. That may have been long term a huge break for us in terms of that contract.
