I think this team is way better than last year. Better coach, no howden, no hajek. Better bottom 6 and 3rd pair.
The big loss is Buch. I think they make the playoffs next year. Not a contender, but they will be a better team for sure - nyrangers2
Is it tho? Remains to be seen. If people think he can’t be replaced, I mean his production, they’re mistaken. Krav-kakko will be the top two RWs. Either one should be at least what Buch was in the top 6. May take some time, but by December they’ll all be clicking. 2 GAG lines |

Just bc u have guys that can replace him doesn’t mean u should trade him for pennies on the dollar. If we were trying to acquire a guy like Buch for the following years 2nd and a roll player we’d be laughing at how ridiculous it was. |

In contrast to Brooks's words today of Drury claiming never being seriously in on acquiring Eichel, he spent excessive time via a "STEALTH MODE" in always checking in on others' interest & possible offers, to see if Adams price possibly lowered, per Elliotte Friedman's words spoken in mid July. Per mentioning that then here, it appeared everything, (except Drury's toughness need addressed), was first hinging around a possible trade for Eichel, which also cost him in the low value received for Buch from the Blues. That first due to Buch being the one roster piece Buffalo was rumored to accept as part of any deal. It secondly lowered when other interested teams moved on from awaiting Drury's contact, including two being the Preds, (interested after trading Arvidsson to L.A.); and Vancouver, (in the Buch "+" for Horvat /or Horvat "+" rumors).
The Eichel/Sabres mess may first require a lengthy process to settle issues between both parties regarding the medical/surgery means dispute, & the in turn misunderstanding delay, which has prevented him from undergoing his preferred Artificial Disc Replacement surgery while under contract with them.
The NHL's collective bargaining agreement with the NHLPA mandates all NHL players with a signed contract, must follow their team's medical advice. If Eichel violates that mandate & seeks outside medical aid & have surgery on his own; he risks having his contract voided. But maybe that's what he & his agents want now, per the Sabres delaying his surgery procedure, which their medical staff themselves deemed one necessary in early June, once his initial prescribed length "CONSERVATIVE REHABILITATION PERIOD" had ended. Eichel could then have his outside surgery choice, & if fully recovering, I believe be free to sign elsewhere, with Buffalo then losing him for nothing in return, (for another reason not to trade anything of value for his uncertainty).
If a solution can't be reached among both parties, the next step to settle the medical dispute may involve the NHLPA, should Eichel's agents file a complaint regarding a "Violation of the Standard of Care" with the NHL/NHLPA Joint Health & Safety Committee. But that process could take a few months or more to settle through a later scheduled hearing, given both sides time in Eichel's to file their complaint, & the Sabres response prior to it being held. That's also why since Day One, I wanted Drury away from this big mess with Eichel. |

Can’t wait until it’s like Strome + Robertson + Georgiev + 1st for Eichel with 33% retained - rangerdanger94
Won't even be that much if he hasn't had the surgery! |

This team will be lucky to make the playoffs this year. - Brukie
I will disagree here.
Our kids are a year older and more experienced. We will have to see how much a new coaching staff will have on the overall team performance. Just remember though, our young legs will carry us better during a full season.
And our schedule gets MUCH easier playing all of the out of division teams.
We may not be a Cup worthy team yet, but this team should certainly make the playoffs! |

The effects of this Covid restricted NHL for the past couple years has been a nightmare for all of the players. , But none more then the Kids. Kakko, Laf, Kravs, Baron, Chytil, and others will be well served by a "normal" off season, preseason, and NHL schedule. They gonna be much improved from the get go. Book it! |

Dude why do you constantly have to act like your in the these trade talks? You have no idea what they could’ve gotten for him. They got a completely different player, one that they really didn’t have, and a 2nd rd pick. I mean when we trade picks it’s almost the end of the world but getting one means squat?. So unfair You are worse than a woman with letting things go lol. It’s over with, just like McDonagh-Miller trade that you couldn’t let go for 3 years. People forget, Blues had to sign him to a long term deal which hurts some of the leverage the Rangers had in a return.
Buch is like Strome. Play him with good players and he produces. He was very inconsistent over the years here. He is a good player, nothing you go gaga over. Dime a dozen winger. About 50 of them in the league, so he wasn’t as coveted as we hoped he would be. It’s basically the Hagelin trade 2.0. |

Dark horse center acquisition could be Lindhlom imo. Calgary needs a shakeup.
Would anyone do Strome, Schneider and the first?
Lindholm contract would cost them a good haul, but without the question marks surrounding Eichel. He’d probably be worth his weight in gold, 3 yrs at under 5 million? That is a tasty contract to acquire
Laf Zib Kakko
Panarin Lindholm Krav
Kreider Goodrow Chytil
Rooney w/ some combo of Blais/Gauthier/Reaves/Hunt/Barron
* I think we may have the best forward depth in the league
(I feel like we always miss someone when we do these combos)
Anyway, Formidable to say the least imo.
Chytil and Goodrows spots are interesting. Goodrow has a good faceoff percentage, so maybe he just takes the draws on the line and Chytil can play the center position, or just have Goodrow as the center. GG has options which is only going to help. The top 9 I think the LWs are set in stone, but the RWs could play up or down on any line and look about the same. I could even see Goodrow playing on Panarins wing, ala Fast. Digging the pucks out of the corners, hard on the forecheck, etc |

I think that Schneider would be an overpayment as the third piece to be sent along with Strome, and a 1st Rounder in exchange for Lindholm. Substituting Robertson could likely get that deal done. Gorton must have seen something great with the scouting reports on Schneider to have traded up that Draft, to prevent him from landing with the very interested rumored Devils back then. |

Whatever the package is isn’t going to kill us like Eichel potentially could. As far as assets going I mean.
Schneider seems to trigger this board lol I agree I don’t want to trade him, but for Lindholm it is extremely tempting imo. Calgary probably would insist on Schneider tho I think

I agree with you tj in being correct there in full, starting most importantly with Eichel's uncertainty being a huge risk that "could potentially kill us assets dealt wise" for one; in addition to cap wise even should he initially undergo his preferred Artificial Disc Replacement surgery, but still never be able to return to his original level of play.
The Flames would likely demand Schneider as the young top defensive prospect in a package deal. But Drury would have to play hardball with them, & start with Robertson as I replied shortly ago; & if still necessary, add another asset of some kind. I again wonder how great the scouting reports were back then on Schneider, which prompted Gorton to move up that Draft to prevent him from being selected ahead of them by the Devils, as was the word then. |

It may not be a terrible idea to hold on to Strome and then look to trade him at the deadline. Top 6 center would surely garner a first as a rental, wouldn’t he? In the meantime Barron could slide in when that happens, or Chytil could have hit the big time by then even
I’m so excited for next season I can’t sleep obviously haha I wish opening night was tomorrow |

We can only hope for now that Chytil &/or Barron would take that next step under Gallant to become Strome's replacement if he is dealt by the deadline, due to him possibly becoming a potential UFA a few months thereafter.
Likewise, Kakko, Lafreniere, and Kravtsov given his fair chance must also advance in development and offensive production wise under Gallant in order to replace the offensive contributions lost in the trade of Buch, and loss of Blackwell in the Expansion Draft. |

We just may this season experience the potential of having not just one, but also a second "GAG line," (i.e., "Goal A Game" line), as was the shortened name given during the late 1960's/early 1970's for the Rangers "GAG line" then of Jean Ratelle centering Vic Hadfield on LW & Rod Gilbert on the RW.

Letting things go? U brought it up u boner. But ppl disagree with u and it’s y don’t u let things go? I haven’t seen a single article or single person outside of a few on this blog that think the return for Buch was fair. I’ve said from day 1 of the trade we’re going to love Blais, that doesn’t mean u trade a guy like Buch for a role player and future 2nd that’s 4 years from the NHL. Same goes for Reaves, love that we got him but think a 3rd was a little high for a 4th line enforcer. Doesn’t mean we won’t like him as a fan base. |

personally I think the 3rd rounder proves that other teams were sniffing around Reaves, probably a rival of ours or two, maybe the Devils and Flyers, and they wanted to make sure not to lose him
I'd have been mad as hell if we let him go to the Devils for a 3rd and weren't willing to do it
no team in the NHL needed Reaves as badly as we did and we already have an extra 2nd and 4th next year
that pick is absolutely nothing to cry about |

Yea ok Elsa.. you NEVER bring any old news up..ever and Leave my boner out of this
In no particular order, players you wouldn’t or won’t, and for various reasons, let go of:
Matt Dumba
Coyle
Max Domi
Tony Deangelo
Buch
Howden
McDonagh
JT Miller
Nam
I’m sure I’m missing like 5-10 guys. You are the king of opening old wounds

I don't wanna speak poorly of Buch, but lets not pretend that he was this incredibly productive player for a long time.
For a long time he's been an incredibly frustrating player and broke out this past season, but, lots of goals vs the Devils and Flyers in a very weird year.
Like Buch a lot and always will, but already a myth about him is starting to build a bit. |

I think it's pretty obvious that the Rangers thought his arbitration numbers were gonna skyrocket because of this past season, and it doesn't look like the Rangers believed they were numbers based on reality in a normal season
it's why the rumors are out there that if they didnt like the aribtration ruling they may actually walk away |

And since when is two asssts for one getting taken to the cleaners? And saving about 4 mill in cap space is it? That’s the other part of the trade that’s a positive. Oh and much much more ice time for Kakko, and probably Kravtsov |
