if they trade Zib, after trading Buch, they may need to sign Hank just to take attention away from the P.R. nightmare of trading all these fan favorites

definitely during the season, not sure of the rule if he would be allowed to start the season there

I rather have Mika at 29 and have to pay him than Eichel at 24 at 10 million not knowing what you’re going to get from him with this neck/back issue going on. Just my opinion on the matter. Mika has shown me no signs of slowing down and quite the contrary even with his sluggish start due to covid. Also don’t believe that yes while Mika might be upset that Buch was traded doesn’t signify that he wants to leave over it. That’s so overblown. Either way if you’re going to go get Eichel then it’s for the sole purpose you’re going to have him and Mika down the middle for the next 5-6 years at least. You aren’t trading one to acquire the other unless there is a trade for another top end center which doesn’t make much sense cause I don’t see anyone hanging as trade bait.

Mika and ? for Eichel...If it means Kakko, Laf, and Kakko, Schneider, Lundkvist, Roberston stay...it isn't worst idea? I don't see Zib carrying NYR on a playoff run. He was invisible in bubble playoffs and at end of this year in games against Isles...

That's the biggest thing to me. If Zib is moved it must mean some of those top prospects aren't being traded. Which is huge

The whole thing with trading Zib is that he's only signed for another year. Really complicates things. Who would trade for him for 1 year? You would think he would want to test free agency also to see what he could get.

Well why are teams trying to trade for Strome, why did the Flyers trade for Risto? Lot's of players get traded in the last year of their deals. Zib is a really good player, teams looking for a center upgrade feel like he can at least help them try to win a cup this year.

I get it, it just adds more complications to it. Obviously there's no way he's going to accept a trade to Buffalo. So there would have to be a 3rd team involved that he IS willing to go to. And that team would also have to give pieces to the Sabres that they will accept. Just saying it seem like it's such a longshot to actually play out.

If they do, can I trade in my Mika jersey for an Eichel one? Should I send it back to China where I got it? Do you need my receipt?

Flyers gave Hart 3 years at around 3.9 million cap hit. Not that its a comparable to Shesty but man he was one of the worst goalies in the league last year

Flyers probably want to extend him after a down year so they had some leverage on keeping the cap hit down

Mika is not better than Eichel. Offensively and defensively. Also Mika has 6 concussions so probably just as injury prone as Jack these days.
- nyrangers2

Yeah, I'll disagree.
Over the last 5 seasons, Eichel is 33rd in scoring, Mika 38th. Mika is 5% better on faceoffs, way more hits, way more blocked shots, way better give away/take away ratio and higher percentage of points 5 on 5.
They are similar on very offense, with the nod to Eichel. But, Mika is clearly better defensively. I'm aware of his concussion history. I'd say that makes his head just as fragile as Eichel's neck. So, we already have a similar player that will garner perhaps a couple million less toward the salary cap and won't cost us 4 assets to get into the line up.

There was an article about Zibbys stats where he crushed the bottom feeding teams and struggled against the top teams. His point totals are 70/30, he feasts on the Flyers. Has done poorly against the Caps and Islanders the last few years.

Just saying. I'd do the Eichel for Zib trade if forced too.
