I don’t think they’ll miss a beat without this proclaimed HOFer named Ritchie. Hes a good player, but jesus it’s like he’s some top winger in the NHL or something. We just traded Buch, why on earth would they have got Ritchie? I still don’t get that rumor lol. Much rather have Reaves since he’s locked into the 4th line. Ritchie isn’t a 4th liner. He would’ve been redundant to say the least

Why did he get extended? It’s simple..two years of Reaves is better than one

I never expressed word here for them to pursue Ritchie. But that was the hope by a number of members last week. Again, Reaves wasn't going anywhere else once dealt here; at least not by his own sole choice until next Summer, when it would have been best then to re-sign him, or earlier during the season if his game dictated it being a must. The issue again is next Summer's potential cap troubles.

In support of Drury, that's why the Rangers could not afford cap wise to re-sign Buch at $6M/year long term while in his prime & coming off his best season. But Drury getting taken by the Blues only sending along with a tough 7:00 to 10:00/game Samuel Blais, a 2nd Round pick in the following year's Draft, instead of a 1st Rounder this past one or next year's, depicts the Blues stole Buch, regardless of his new earnings.

Honestly, wouldn't surprise me if he knows what's up. He's well connected and liked in the industry from what I know.

could be just a coincidence, but Eichel never had a twitter and started one yesterday, could be a clue that a conclusion is on its way here

Might as well head it off and extend him now before he can improve on last year's performance.
Edit: Or do they not have that ability until he becomes RFA? I can't recall and don't see it yet .

I believe they can extend him now, but he has to want to sign an extension. If I were him I'd be betting on myself having another big year and bending Drury over next summer

He swung and missed on a few around free agency. Something about trading Strome, and signing Geltzlaf and someone else. None of it came true.

Edit: it was Danault too which was probably pretty close to coming true.
