Sorry it’s so long lol I needed to get this off my chest haha

I don’t understand how anyone can have issue with Reaves trade/signing. Is it the money? Are you kidding me? Two years under 2 mill is a drop in the bucket, so who cares. Is it the extra year? Again, are you serious? Personally, if he was around for 5 years I wouldn’t be mad lol. So what exactly is the issue with him? Is it because he’s black? Seriously what is it? Don’t say the money or extra year because you’re just wrong about that

Here’s some facts for the idiots out there:

(in the room)...EVERY TEAMMATE if they’ve been asked the question, how is Reaves as a teammate/in the room? To a man, they all say he is fantastic. A vital cog in said room it sounds like

(In the community)...Vegas people/fans have said he’s terrific there aswell. Imagine him with Hockey in Harlem? Or Garden of Dreams? Not many care about that, but you know what..kids do. Parents do. That is a factor we really have no idea what the benefits are unless you’re in those programs

(On the ice)...where do I start? He, and players like him, are imperative on a STARFILLED-YOUNG-SKILL FIRST-SMALLER team. If you don’t know that, you truly are stupid - moronic - clueless. They all apply. Just think back we didn’t have that for (frank)s sake? No more body slams of Panarin. Or cheap shots on our kids (much less likely anyway). We were the talk of the league how little pushback we had. Now we have an intimidation factor that wasn’t there. Opponents now have to respect our whole roster.

Lastly, energy. Imagine actually having a player, or two or three, like we have now..including Reaves that provide the Garden with energy!! Oh what a novel concept to have the fans engaged the garden sucks quite frankly. It has for awhile. Now with all the hitting they’ll be doing, the garden will no longer sound like a library most of the time. Exhibit A- the Islanders. That line changes games with hitting. Changes momentum. It’ll be (frank)ing lovely to have that in in our favor again
——-
This is more or less directed at two people. One is obvious (Brukie), the other is Jan. Jan can you provide us with anything positive this off season? You clearly don’t like the Reaves addition, hated the Buch trade (it wasn’t great, but not nearly as bad as people make it to be) and have more or less slapped Drury every chance you’ve had so far. It’s mind boggling to me as they are now a primed and ready PLAYOFF team (by that I mean roster wise). The NHL better look out for the NY Rangers

Anyway, as you always say, “that’s how I feel” and hopefully you accept this criticism well, and who knows, maybe I’ve changed your mind🤷🏻‍♂️

I believe they can extend him now, but he has to want to sign an extension. If I were him I'd be betting on myself having another big year and bending Drury over next summer
- eichiefs9

I know it's up to him whether he wants to, but having read some other CBA info, I don't think they can extend him while he's still on an ELC. Of course, I could be wrong about that, too.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think there's anything stopping him/NYR from signing an extension a year out from the expiration of his current deal. Entirely possible I'm wrong on this one though.

It might be that he has to wait until Jan 1st, that actually sounds kinda familiar to me

It's kind of odd for everyone to be tweeting about Eichel now when the GM is away on vacation this week

Maybe they just told everyone Adams was on vacation because they were nearing a deal and didn't want any distractions

Easy for me to say when it's not my team trading for him but, assuming the package isn't an massive overpay including key young players, I'd be excited to add Eichel. You guys are in need of high-end centers and when he's healthy he's up towards the top of the league.

I have to imagine that if UFC fighters can have this disc replacement surgery and get repeatedly punched in the head by other massive martial arts experts then Eichel can probably withstand the rigors of an NHL season after having it.

I'm hoping he goes elsewhere, personally

Yea personally I think the neck injury is a blessing. No way they would be able to trade for him without including Laf/Kakko plus more if he was 100% healthy. These players rarely become available. Have to take the risk.

As crazy as this sounds considering Vegas were cup contenders the whole time, I'm not sure Gallant ever had this deep a team with Reaves before.

Just talked to my buddy who is best friends with Giordano, Calgary offered a 2nd round pick and a lower end prospect to not select Giordano. Seattle wanted a 1st and 2nd round and Lindholm to not take Giordano. Giordano also has been training with Strome this offseason and they were laughing how they almost got traded for eachother.

TJ - will take them one by one, but a generic comment first. I have always said I would be fair and balanced, both good and bad. Think in the 10+ years I have been blogging here, I have done that. if I agree, will state that, and disagree, same. That mantra has been the case when it would be easy to give the team a pass and just be a homer.

You clearly don’t like the Reaves addition - my disagreement was two-fold, one, the cost to acquire. I felt a third was high, if a fifth, wouldn't have complained, especially since he was phased out in the playoffs last year for Vegas. Second, just because he is here doesn't mean liberties won't be taken. He will help by his presence, but to me, that won't be enough to stop it from fully happening.

I didn't think the second year was needed now, especially with the need to re-sign Igor and extension for Fox, plus possibility of extending Zib and acquiring Eichel. That is the case irrespective of same salary. I have no doubt he will be a good teammate, good in and out of the locker room, and if he can reverse the regression in his skating, be somewhat effective on the fourth line. Plus, as said, hope to be proven wrong.

Hated the Buch trade (it wasn’t great, but not nearly as bad as people make it to be) - I feel he return was underwhelming, as I noted at the time of the trade. Blais and the second in 2022 was not ideal, cognizant of the marketplace. Plus, as I wrote a lot, no reason why the the third line could not have remained a scoring line and the loss of Buch removes the safety net for Kakko and Kravtsov. Plus, if one goes in a deal for Eichel, even more so as to the scoring from wings. Cap constraints is an issue, but I was on the Buch extension train for several years now and not reversing that view.

Have more or less slapped Drury every chance you’ve had so far - I didn't pan the Goodrow acquisition, just the six years, as wanted a lower AAV if extended that long. Plus, liked the Hunt signing a lot, same with Nemeth

It’s mind boggling to me as they are now a primed and ready PLAYOFF team (by that I mean roster wise). The NHL better look out for the NY Rangers - Drury set out to balance the roster and create clear roles, he has done so. We knew the team had to get tougher and clear changes were to be made. I would have done so on the fourth line, moved Kreider down to the third line and see the impact of that change. I hope the changes do make the team more playoff tough with the hopes they get there.
