If we are going by comparisons, is Nylander playing for free?😄 |

Water boys don't get paid.
I like the Hagel deal. I think Bowman will make another trade. Aren't we using up a good portion of Shaw's ltir? Or can we still be cap compliant on day 1? |

He should have to pay to be on the team. |

One of the things Stan can do is put Connolly and daHaan on waivers (highly doubt anyone takes them, and if they do to me no great loss, send them down for day 1, and save $2 million on the cap. Also can do the same with Carpenter, and play day 1 with 20 players.
In order to fully use in season LTIR, you need to be as close to the cap as possible on day 1.

Too good. No way they will get free agents to come if they treat their players this way. As it is, it is a miracle MAF has decided to play for such a mean organization! |

I wasn't sure who was going to be waived, or how much it would help, so thank you. I think there might be a taker, but I agree as it wouldn't be a great loss. |

The 3 year length is excellent. If he stays healthy, his contract at 26 years old will be for great money.
You keep guys with his compete level and effectiveness. |

The other way is since Toews and McCabe were on LTIR at the end of the season and are not "ready" at day one to play they can be put on injured reserve:
16.11 Injured Reserve List/Injured Non-Roster.
(a) The Injured Reserve List is a category of the Reserve List. A Club may place a Player on the Injured Reserve List only if such Player is reasonably expected to be injured, ill or disabled and unable to perform his duties as a hockey Player for a minimum of seven (7) days from the onset of such injury, illness or disability. A Player who finishes an NHL Season on the Injured Reserve List and continues to be disabled and unable to perform his duties as a hockey Player by reason of the same injury at the time he reports to the Club’s Training Camp in the next League Year, will again be eligible to be placed on the Club’s Injured Reserve List. For any other Player who fails the Club’s initial physical examination in any League Year, or is injured, ill or disabled while not on the Club’s Active Roster, he shall not be eligible for, and may not be placed on, Injured Reserve, but instead shall be eligible to be, and may be designated as, Injured Non-Roster.

Another option, and a probable one. I just don't want to think of Toews as not being good to go. From the wedding picks, I hope he can play a lot of the season at his top form. I do count on maintenance days though. |

Both cap hits are too big I think for some team to claim them on waivers. Remember when Strallman was put on waivers during the year and there were no takers.

I like it. Excited. In his sample time with the Hawks last year, Hagel didn't look out of place with the bottom 6 of the cup years. |

He won't make it 3 years he'll be concussed but it sounds like a "Krueger" deal to me. |

Mine was meant as more pro-Hagel than as a shot at Dach.
Hagel is gonna be quite good, imo.
Regarding Dach, he is eligible for an extension now. I expect the Hawks would love to do one now. I suspect Dach bets on himself and waits until next summer. |

Hagel put up some points in Jr too (I know he went nuts his extra year in Jrs). Over a ppg player in Jr playoffs.
He also put up 19g in 59 games at Rockford. He isn't some try hard little wrecking ball like Shaw. He has some real offensive talent. I think he will be a good middle six 40-45pt guy. 15-20g.
F-it maybe he becomes a lesser version Marchand. Aim high!

Does anyone have an explanation of what happened with Hakkarainen? The Hawks traded him for Fleury, and Vegas just said they didn't want him? How the hell does that work? |

seeing how he was the guy the Hawks were willing to risk for Fleury to come and Vegas pushed him to the side.....maybe he's just NOT good? |

Hagel has deceptive skill. He’s such a smart passer and he can finish. I don’t see him in Marchand’s stratosphere but if he got close that would be amazing for one of Bowman’s “dumpster reclamations”. I think that, like Shaw, Hagel has the ability to be spotted in the top six right now and should he show he’s capable of more production earn himself a second line job. Like shaw was, Hagel is one of my favourite Hawks players. |
