seeing how he was the guy the Hawks were willing to risk for Fleury to come and Vegas pushed him to the side.....maybe he's just NOT good?
- SteveRain

Well yeah, outside of Theo and Wiz maybe three other people even knew who he was. I was more interested in how Vegas can just say "we don't want him" and that part of the trade is just pushed to the side.

Did they waive him? How the heck does that work.

Does anyone have an explanation of what happened with Hakkarainen? The Hawks traded him for Fleury, and Vegas just said they didn't want him? How the hell does that work?
- Chunk

If you look up in the sky tonight you’ll see him as he streaks across the sky towards the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy

He definitely hasn't looked like he will sniff the NHL at this point.

I am pretty sure Vegas still owns his rights, they just didn't place him in their system.

hahaha...

Like you I like Hagel a lot and he didn't get paid "paid" so the motivation to keep on improving and not be contempt will be there...unlike some guys who get comfortable after getting "paid"

Very good deal for the Hawks....for 1.5 aav cap hit, hawks will get a lot of production out of that.

I wonder how long until Nylander is signed. He doesn't have much leverage right now, coming off an injury, not eligible for an offer sheet and his QO would have been around 875K. He could provide some good secondary offense, depending how things shake out.

Hagel has deceptive skill. He’s such a smart passer and he can finish. I don’t see him in Marchand’s stratosphere but if he got close that would be amazing for one of Bowman’s “dumpster reclamations”. I think that, like Shaw, Hagel has the ability to be spotted in the top six right now and should he show he’s capable of more production earn himself a second line job. Like shaw was, Hagel is one of my favourite Hawks players.
- paulr

Marchand wasn't supposed to be in Marchand's stratosphere either. As you say, he has good hockey sense, hands and speed. Combine that with a world class motor, and I wouldn't bet against him getting to that level (don't mean to suggest you were doing so).

Mo, let’s compare apples to apples.
Player 1 is 20 years old
Player 2 is 23 years old

- Angotti

Both apples at that age would be compost tho

One thing is certain for Nylander - it will be a one year deal. Couldn’t care less if he’s on the team or not.

Hagel re-signs for 3 years at $1.5 AAV.
- Theo Fox

What a fantastic deal for the Blackhawks, 3 years.

Who cares about Nylander.

Could someone please tell me how a line of Dach/ ADB/ and Kane can work? You are only allowed to play with one puck.

And according to cap friendly he'll be a RFA without arbitration rights at the end of the 3 years.

Hagel put up some points in Jr too (I know he went nuts his extra year in Jrs). Over a ppg player in Jr playoffs.

He also put up 19g in 59 games at Rockford. He isn't some try hard little wrecking ball like Shaw. He has some real offensive talent. I think he will be a good middle six 40-45pt guy. 15-20g.

F-it maybe he becomes a lesser version Marchand. Aim high!

- bhawks2241

A realistic comparable for Hagel could be Gourde. Speedy puck hound who is effective in all zones. Agitates by just buzzing around so much.

Capable of those offensive stats as you sugggested, i.e. 40-50 point range on the regular with an occasional outburst above 50.

Mine was meant as more pro-Hagel than as a shot at Dach.

Hagel is gonna be quite good, imo.

Regarding Dach, he is eligible for an extension now. I expect the Hawks would love to do one now. I suspect Dach bets on himself and waits until next summer.

- mohel

I like Hagel as well, love his compete level, but unlike some here, I think he tops out at 3rd line. Dach is still TBD, let’s hope he ends up being a real good 2C, time will tell, but if he was smart he’d bet on himself.

I agree. Should note he so far does not stay in the scrum a bit too long like Andrew Shaw did sometimes.

Stan should have waited out Hagel and forced him to sign for the league minimum or sit for the season. The Hawks had all the leverage yet Stan overpaid in dollars and term yet again. That extra $750,000 will cripple the Hawks going forward. Great job Stan!

All these kids entering their prime years, maybe that's why they made the trade for the dman?

It looks like the Oilers are re-signing Nurse for 8 years @ $9.25 million AAV. Hamilton signed for $9 million. Both are better than Jones and signed for significantly less. #ASF.
