Where does it say njd dropped out of the running for tank..curious.

I'm quoting this article:
This drops the Devils out of the Tarasenko sweeps and it appears that the Rangers are in no hurry for Tarasenko either…

I'm not saying I agree that's actually the case. I'm just saying if NJD did drop out for Tarasenko, then I'd think it lowers the price for the NY teams. And I don't see how NJD signing Tatar affects what the Rangers want to do at all.

The Rangers aren’t going after tarasenko and if they are they’re out of their minds. I hope they get him if they are but they’re not.

nearly 15 million in cap space, and still short 3 legitimate top 6 wingers (2 if you want to bring Holtz up and throw him in the deep end on one of them- not my preference unless he shows it in camp), so not really sure why this would suddenly drop us out of the Tara saga.

I have mixed feelings on if the devils should bring him in and they directly relate to the cost to get him, heck the way we draft Im fine giving a 2nd or 3rd to the blues along with Johnsson, IF healthy this is the exact type of player we want to put on Jack's wing. The problem is the big IF with his shoulder, and STL has to want more then that for him.

I was reacting to what the article said. I don't see why this necessarily affects going after Tarasenko either. Although with Tatar signed, I think Fitzy would fell less pressure.

Other then that clarification, I agree with you.

From a hockey standpoint it doesn't make a lot of sense for the Rangers to be after Tarasenko. On the other hand, Dolan is now more involved and Drury is a new GM maybe wanting to make a big name splash. So it doesn't seem impossible.

My guess is they are hard after Eichel and maybe just making some noise on Vlad because it might cost NJ or the Islanders more.

Well they traded for and extended Ryan Reaves, so...

When this is all done we'll learn that NYR never had an ounce of interest in Tarasenko. Eichel makes sense, particularly if they decide we'd rather pay him $10M than try to extend Zibanejad for $9M+. But there is no organizational need for Tarasenko. Again, if they wanted a top 6 scorer, why not just resign Buchnevich who ended up being almost $2M less than Tarasenko. His shoulder also isn't held together with scotch tape. But I don't actually have any inside sources with NYR.

Yes, but aren't folks saying trading Buchnevich didn't really make sense either?

To me, NYR felt they had a surplus of scoring wingers...Panarin, Kreider, Lafrenierre, Kakko, Buchnevich. So they parted with Buchnevich to add more grit to the bottom 6 - Blais, creating cap room for Goodrow and Reaves. Would be pretty bizarre to reverse all of that to add Tarasenko. The upgrade they are looking for is at centre. So Eichel makes some sense. Tarasenko makes zero sense I don't believe any source saying it.

Thanks. That’s pretty helpful. Nobody has said Taransenko makes sense for NYR, although this site insists they are interested/involved.

NO clarification needed, I was piggy backing off of you in agreement good sir. This signing should not have any bearing on any of the three teams interest outside of your point that Fitz not should not feel pressured to overpay for a guy who's shoulder is paper mache at this point sadly. If Ek wants to typo his way to help us drive down the price though Im with it.
